If a team in that schools conference was going to miss the playoffs by 2 or 3 losses or they were simply in second place the school would have to forfeit. My high school football coach snitched on a team we lost to for letting an ineligible player get on the field. The sad part about it was that the ineligible player was a foreign exchange student and he only played in 3 games, all blow outs and he only got on the field in the final few minutes. They wanted him to experience high school football. He didn't even get in the game against us. We lost to them on the final game of the regular season and missed the playoffs. My coach snitched and they had to forfeit those 3 games and we ended up winning the division and going instead of them. (it didn't matter because we ended up losing in the first round 30 - 0
)
