Saw it in theaters when it came out, liked it, but couldn't really grasp it's value at that age

now, parts hit too close for me, and I haven't watched in like 10 years, but it's by far my favorite from Spike, and one of my favorites, in general. That scene where they search his place.

one of my boys and I used to talk about this all the time, his Dad was like a version of Norton's Dad in the movie, as in he would have driven his son away.

One minor flaw, that makes me laugh, is dude was SO stressed to go to Otisville! He was connected and solid enough, no one was going to break his teeth out and rape him or whatever all that was about. Maybe that was just the stress and anxiety of the experience talking.

So many great shots of NYC, every single performance is perfect.

Did he really go on to live that life and get back with Naturelle? Or it was just a fantasy.

Someone tell me something please :mjcry:
I was faked out by that ending too..

Spike even ended the DVD commentary saying"..and Monty is off to prison."

Yeah, the ending monologue still takes me out. It’s like having a great, deep conversation with someone and then getting hit with that run-on tangent that makes you question why you’re talking with such person in the first place. Spike’s a really good director, but can get crazy preachy when not reined in.

I haven't seen this movie in mad long, it's never on any streaming services, I'm assuming b/c of that racist rant Edward Norton goes on. Been trying to watch this for the longest (not paying to stream it fukk that)
