I'm assuming you're a black woman or a coli militant. Listen -- it's great that this young lady finished school despite the obstacles in her life. But whenever I read stories about this, particular about black women, 9.5 times out of 10 the woman in the story studied a useless subject. The whole point of college is to gain a skill or trade that most people in society don't have. We're in the 21st century and society is changing fast. Robots replacing most jobs in society is a very scary and real concern. Now isn't the time to play around. So it's very disheartening seeing black women pursue laughable careers.
That's what YOU think the point of college is...Let me tell you a secret, most employers that require a bachelors degree don't give a damn about the title of the degree until it is a field that requires those technical skills.
She's going to law school, which does NOT require a specific type of degree (it requires good writing and analytical skills). In order to get into a good law school, it's probably best to major in something for which you can earn a high GPA (given how important GPA is for law school admissions).
Finally, you DO realize that the world has different niches that must be filled by someone right? Why oh why in the world would we want or need EVERYONE to go after the exact same jobs?
Don't be disheartened by someone's choices and successes. Live your life and let others live.
