All ya’ll shytting on his work ethic are conveniently ignoring that he’s wisely SAVING and INVESTING almost HALF of his income so that he can retire relatively early and financially comfortable.

He’s sacrificing now so he doesn’t have to struggle later.
They’re pointing to the fact that he’s being worked to the absolute bone - USPS should pay a higher wage and should simply have more employees.
I’m sorry but that isn’t a feel good story at all. That dude basically has no life and sacrificing his well being for capital. fukk that

Teach in a blue state.

Boston pays an average of $100k a year for teachers. $60k+ starting salary. 3% raise a year is almost guaranteed because of the strong teachers union. Hit $120k easily on the salary scale easily after professional development. Top out at $160k if you’re really motivated with professional development. Do a few clubs and coach a few sports (this part is competitive) and next thing you know you’re up there in the near $200k range.

Work 9 months out of the year. That’s it. 70 days off during the summer. Every major holiday off.

After busting your ass for 3 years you get tenured. Which means you’re not getting fired unless you really really really fukk up.

After the 3 years you’re on cruise control. Recycle learning content. Have everything electronically graded. Retire at 56 with 80% pension. Now you’re getting 6 figures for the rest of your life.

Boston isn’t even the highest paying district in Massachusetts either. You could also teach in one of the suburbs where the average salary is around $80k.

For those that don’t believe me:
Here are the 100 Massachusetts school districts that pay the highest

those numbers are from 2018 too. So they’ve gone up since. I have multiple cousins who teach in Boston and one that just retired.

Y’all earned 90k+ 2021?
3x that

:yeshrug:
I don’t do 8 hours a day and I have to keep an eye on email/slack/phone once in a blue moon on weekends. But it ain’t 14 hours and it ain’t $90k. That figure is with bonus but I’m not counting RMU or total comp (health etc).

Edit: because nikkas will ask. Executive in software on the product side of the house. Not FAANG. Not a startup.

He’s got the work ethic to put in hours and the discipline to save and invest. He’s going to have a bright future. Salute.

And no one ever talks about that. The dude is literally working the equivalent of 2 jobs. I mean he’s young but gotdamn that’s too much for me. Is the money worth all that time? I personally don’t think so.

This shyt shows how North America has created work slaves. No one should have to work like that.

Just admit that your lazy breh. You can’t tell someone else how much to work

Would you say that to someone who makes more and works about half the amount of hours at home?

It's not about being lazy and more about being efficient and being compensated fairly for your skills. Not working those hours for that money and seeing my family for 2 hours out of the week.

Unless you’re willing to hire that breh for more than 90k you really have no room to talk.

He assessed his skills and job options and found that was the best choice for him. Others might choose differently but it’s not your place to tell him how much he should be working. He’s trying to support a family.

How do I have no room to talk. We all make choices in life. I choose not to work that much for that pay. Frankly, it's not even about the pay per se. I just refuse to work that much period. Good for him...but those hours are not sustainable and he'll probably realize that when it's too late.

Because its just idle bullshyt talk. It’s literally his life and his family. You have zero constructive input on that. You have entirely different circumstances than him. Just leave it
