I brush mine. Beard care is a mofo. My facial hair is kind of rough and course so I can't pick it cause it will irritate the skin underneath. I brush it and moisturize the skin underneath though.

Digging my beard now...it Will be gone come spring though.

Brushing the beard as it gets longer doesn't cause the hair to break?

The texture of mine is a little finer than the hair on my head (which is tougher) and i usually pick it instead of brushing it.

You can brush it while it's short, but once it gets around 2 inches you should comb it in order to give it direction. Invest in a good conditioner to prevent flakes and to make it easier to tame. Honest Amish is pretty good. Try to find a good barber to remove loose ends (#1 reason why ppl cut their beards is because they fuk it up by trimming themselves).

Would also invest in a wax or a good beeswax to stop little hairs from sticking out. Your beard will only stay down once the hairs are long enough to be pulled down by gravity

I do both, I pick to get the hair knot free and then I brush to smooth it and give the hair direction. I have about 4 inches of hair on my face.
