In order to play NBA2K14 on the next-gen, you need VC. Period. This method will get you an average of about 100 VC a minute on the conservative side.
After trying a lot of different ways in this game to to earn VC without having to grind out games, here's the fastest way I've discovered to earn VC. Please note that this guide is made for PS4.
- Start the game and move the cursor to MyGM
- Push Triangle to manage/select your save files
- Choose to start a new MyGM file, delete an old file if you need to
- At options screen leave everything the same but turn injuries off
- Choose the Miami Heat
- Spam X through initial owner talk, always choose will accomplish to get the most VC
- Choose won't change in initial coach talk and all coach talks moving forward
- Auto-generate rookies
- You will now be at the MyGM homepage. Push circle, select options
- Go to MyGM customization
- Turn lineup management, prospect scouting, and player roles ON to automate them. Hit circle to save and go back to MyGM homepage
- Exit menu and scroll to final season game
- Push X, select simulate through date
- Spam X through press conferences and team chemistry talks as they pop up
- Continue to choose won't change for talking with coaches who want you to look at strategies
- Tap circle when other GMs call you to decline their calls - keyword here is tap, if you hold it for too long you will stop simulating and will have to scroll through all the games again
- Spam X when Lebron (star player) talks to you
- Choose continue season when prompted for All-Star game, trade deadline, contract extension deadline
- Sim playoffs - scroll to game 4 and choose simulate. The cursor will automatically move to game 5-6-7 so you just need to hit X and select simulate
- Sometimes playoffs bring new owner challenges, always choose will accomplish
- You get 250 VC if you win title
- After season is over, set budget for next year (push triangle to auto allocate, then circle), this will save VC, then push circle and exit the game mode. Sometimes the owner will tell you to get rid of player in the off-season... open menu go to front office, team roster, select player, hit X, and choose release to FA. Do this before exiting the game mode if the owner asks for this, easy 100 VC
- Repeat cycle for as long as you want, you will likely need to delete the old MyGM file when you start a new MyGM save
The whole process takes approximately 5-6 minutes once you get used to it and generates anywhere from 400-1000+ VC per season on average. Some goals like fan attendance and team morale are very easy to get, others like winning the division and playoff goals (i.e. sweep series, force game 7) are a little tougher, and obviously winning the championship the most difficult.

I love the 2k brand as a whole, but this has been a long time coming. The nickel and diming...removing features...ignoring and even omitting certain modes. 2K has one of the most loyal, and unfortunately, brain dead and apologetic fan bases I've ever seen. This type of crap will continue until these clowns get any decent competition.
