Really hope a lot of people have been infected already.

Hotspots are bound to pop up after we reopen but if everyone is getting hit with it nationally throughout the summer...:merchant:

Possible Reinfection and if it hits you just as hard the second time :why:

Yeah, the temperature has to reach 200 degrees to fukking kill this virus..so I hope FL folks maintain health.

You know I was like @Family Man for the most part, I’m still halfway on that tip but seeing how my uncle wasted away QUICK from being sick with it has given me more pause in saying folks need to get back out full force. I’m also convinced that the damage to the economy NOW is fatal..so my hands are thrown up in the air regarding whether or not this shyt goes on, I’m just preparing for worse case scenarios that will fall into place after this.

I’m not saying you should spend all of your time tempting fate. But you also shouldn’t be cooped up for no reason.

I go on a walk every day, I’ve been to several stores several days, limped gas, etc. as long as you understand to keep your distance, sanitize, wash your hands, you don’t need to live like a shut in :manny:
None of what you said is a job description though.

Maybe I'm struggling to adjust to what might be a new normal.

I gotta stop messing around and drop 15 lb

I had asthma as a kid and I've been hit hard by respiratory illnesses before. I'm fifty fifty on thinking covid-19 would send me to an early grave or my body will shrug it off:wow:

Better take care of what I can control and if I get it I know I'm in the best shape to fight it.

The onus is on the system so corrupt and unsustainable that we weren't prepared for a pandemic. Its amazing how something as simple as a virus could bring down the world economy. As a society we need to start respecting the power of nature and also build a more functional civilization equipped to handle large and complex problems like this.

This one is on the government. 100%. Completely fukked it’s citizens in a way I never thought I’d see from a 1st world country.

Not only does voting matter, but voting for competent people matters. Demand more from your leadership.

This was a bubble waiting to burst. Decades of incompetent leadership. Gutted programs due to said leadership. Wages lagging woefully behind inflation. Zero financial literacy amongst most of the population. System being held together by low wage workers. COVID-19 was the perfect storm. Just look at the epic collapse of the greatest economy the world has ever known. Took just a few weeks to topple this goliath.
To be honest, the whole system is rotten and needs to be uprooted and rebuilt :yeshrug:I don't know how we do that, tho

Any economy that has to be paused for a month will be hit with some serious problems. Y’all don’t seem to understand how huge that is. This is not a recession....this is something else. This is a complete stoppage. We have never experienced something like that. During the Great Depression you were not contending with a virus.

I don’t disagree that the economy was all smoke and mirrors, bubble or no bubble a stopppage plus virus would kill any economy. Look around the world. Record unemployment across the board while deaths shooting through the roof.

What this means is the focus has been primarily on making people rich and other important issues weee neglected for that reason. When global warming really shows more drastic effects, what will people say?

Stop voting for dinosaurs who run on the economy and xenophobia. Trump isn’t the only one. Maybe now there will be more of a focus on health...health of the people and the planet. How is it possible that a 1st world nary canned provide its citizens and medical staff protective wear like masks and gloves? A country with the most billionaires in the world. These companies are too big and do not give enough. I hope that changes now.

When Climate Change kicks off people are rapidly going to phase from denialism, feeling deeply betrayed & saddened to just pure rage.

The economy was bound to bust if you been following along the charts.i think some of you posters live in a fantasyland because you figure you make good pay or have a good job and those are the people who get rocked to sleep. shyt will go down and come back again. Hopefully this is wake up call to the masses or the few paying attention. The thing that’s crazy is people can’t see that you can only top profits by so much.we have enough technology to improve and make things more efficient, but the people in power just want to own everything.

Economic catastrophes aren’t supposed to happen this often.

The thing is a study recently came out that revealed that up to 80% of people don’t want to break stay at home order/quarantine yet, they don’t feel safe and don’t want to take that risk. Yes it’s selfish, but at the end of the day hell nah a lot of us are not willing to die so y’all can get back to work.

That is squarely on the government. They are not trustworthy and come off as highly incompetent. Where is the testing? Where is the plan? They saw this virus coming and did nothing about it but folk supposed to trust them now?

I do wonder how many of those people who want to continue withe the lockdown reasoning have nothing to do with fear and more to do with convenience. Folk are getting paid and not working. Even folk on this board are good with staying home if they can get paid.

This right here and @Lord Emperor Liggins common sense posts are all that matters in this thread.

This is going to be VERY DIFFICULT.. the cities and states are already panicking behind the scenes because there’s already projections tax receipts will fall WAY BELOW those during 2008-09. This is why you have some municipal authorities clamoring for money if another stimulus package goes through especially for unemployment monies. shyt NY is about to run out of money for unemployment in about two to three fukking weeks!

If police can’t get paid, they will be let go until the number matches what tax receipts allow. This is the same for water, the same for gas, the same for trash collection, roads, libraries, jails, etc..How will Los Angeles look with only 500 police officers and once a week trash pickups? Two blackouts a week? Libraries closed? These are interesting times indeed. Multiple dangers lurk.

Yeah, a lot of people are stuck between STAY HOME and MUH FREEDOMS but reality will hit both camps real soon.

I take stock of this situation from the beginning until now and has my stance changed? No. Covid is a mild threat that can wreck havoc on unprepared nations and populations. Much like the advanced disease can kill uncomfortably quickly via the body's own immune response (a cytokine storm overreaction) so too can an overreaction to the disease from a policy standpoint or a dismissal of the disease via ignorance, idiocy or misinterpretation. A pragmatic, measured response would be best but given the vastly diverse cultures, societies, economies, healthcare systems, and populations of nations around the world mitigation guidelines would need to be tailored for that individual nation; a one size fits all approach isn't feasible. All of this takes competent leadership and an intelligent, informed and cooperative citizenry.

Not much too ask from the western world and it's sole Superpower the United States, right? Well, looks like it was. Now we just have a bunch of western powers expressing genuine joy that they can be seen as the best of the worst instead of the worst, both trivializing and sensationalizing the COVID deaths at the same time. The same slap fight is going on between US states as well.

I said awhile back if this virus brings America to it's knees that means we deserved it. And it looks like we did. Worse yet, people might have to face the uncomfortable truth that the social distancing mitigation that's been in place for the past month is the ABSOLUTE BEST we can do realistically balancing both health and economics and it won't be repeatable. I don't think people are prepared to concede that a "low, comfortable" level of deaths in the US may not have ever been a possibility. Much like hundreds of thousands of heart disease and Cancer deaths per year are "reasonable," 50-150k COVID deaths per year might be what you should set your expectations for. Sounds terrible now, but people will adapt and unfortunately, Capitalism will march on.

/End Rant
