The next rapper to be in position to sign a multimillion deal, after Big/Pac was probably Ma$e.

Debut sold millions, marketable, was the hottest rapper out.

He signed a deal with Jermaine Dupri for his crew Harlem World. I'm sure it ran through So So Def's parent company.

He didn't have the sales track record of Tupac or Big, or the budding acting career of Tupac
but again....,his debut was multi platinum and he was a star. His plan seemed structured the way Big's plan was.......put his crew on, and have them splinter into separate acts.

He got nowhere close to $62 million.
I agree with you , but all 3 had a similar plan with their deals pac wanted to start Makaveli records and sign the outlaws & producers to it.

people have to realise more money was coming into hip hop as it was becoming mainstream and these companies wanted a piece of the pie so these deals were popping up for the successful rappers

I'm gonna throw a red flag based on what I know. Yea there was a Warner deal on the table, but there was 0 chance Pac was leaving Interscope. I didn't watch the entire vid but he mentioned that Pac's lawyers said it would be "easy" to get out of the one page jail contract. With the legal representation Suge had at the time, and the money on the table...it would have been difficult. But Interscope was willing to do anything to get Pac away from Suge, and to reunite him with Dre. From what I've heard and been told, Interscope had the inside line on getting that deal settled and it was only a matter of time before the trigger was going to be pulled.

Pac was going to drop at least two more records on Death Row before bouncing. Either the Makaveli album - or whatever was salvaged after Pac made peace with Nas - and another album (not One Nation). Maybe a soundtrack. His imprint was supposed to be Makaveli Records, under whatever label he signed with - Interscope, most likely.

In terms of the money amount...a good way to think about this is that the money is a down payment for you to create your imprint. When people see those numbers they think it means "oh he's getting 80mil for 7 albums." It may work like that in other genres of music (Prince) but rap is a shell game. Pac was going to use that money on solo albums, soundtracks, putting the Outlawz on, and signing multiple artists. I haven't verified it but I've heard that Dre got the idea to sign Rakim from Pac. He wanted to sign some New York legends and spread money around, including Rakim.

Believable because he wasn’t getting 80 million in his account, but probably towards like 4 or 5 albums ..

If so, a lot of nikkas who started to get shine starting in 97 numbers would have been impacted in a bad way

So what if Prince had that money? Are y'all trying to say Pac had a lesser star power? Man y'all tripping.

Compare other rappers with rappers. Pac is to be compared with REAL LEGEND ROLLING STONES like Prince, Mike, Elvis, and whatnot.

So does big

The $ amount is cap.
Prince got a HUGE publicized deal from WB years earlier worth $100 million, REM got a smaller deal years later for 80 million.
Dude in video pulls the figure for Pac's deal out of thin air, with no proof.

Yes, he had a thousand percent less star power than Prince. Prince was so big he had his cheeks out(HIS MF CHEEKS) and wore high heels and that ain't put a dent in his career
