gotta love the reverse psychology he used on them by saying his album "wasn't all that," meanwhile he was fukking talking about All Eyez on Me which was/is a damn classic. But for the sake of the Outlawz and whoever else was in the studio he couldnt have them feeling like they'd never get close to anything he was putting out (which they couldnt anyway)

exactly! he was downplayin' his own greatness but pac knew he had a masterpiece on his hands
how could he not?!
he was at the top of his game as a writer and rapper
he's signed to the #1 label in the world at the time
he had some of the best beats and producers givin' him their best beats to rap over
he was winnin' all the around with his music at that time
how could he not cook up a classic?!

"Definition Of a Thug nikka" by Pac from the Poetic Justice sample uses the same sample as "Late Night" so im not understanding how clearing that sample was a problem

You'll have to ask Quik...

DX: And I just gotta ask, why was your Donald Byrd-sampling classic creation, “Late Night,” cut from All Eyez on Me?

DJ Quik: It wasn’t cut; we couldn’t clear the sample at that time. But it woulda made it. It’s just Donald Byrd is … let’s just say he’s not too keen on clearing Hip Hop samples. I don’t think he really cares about the genre. And I guess he made enough money to where a 10 million record seller was – I’ma say Donald Byrd might have been a dumb ass … ‘cause he let that slip through his fingers.

Its sad when you look back on it because it really does seem like dude knew he was going to die at an early age so he was trying to do as much music as he can. to last for years.. Its really sad when you think of it from that perspective

See, if you really think about it, it wasn't that Biggie was "lazy" or didn't have a work ethic. To finish a DOUBLE ALBUM while being in a car accident is still pretty amazing if you ask me. People saying Biggie was "lazy" dont realize, he too had to co-write Kim's album, WRITE ALL OF JUNIOR MAFIA'S DEBUT! Guest appearances, more concerts, recording his own album in late 96 etc. It's just that pac was constantly in the studio for him and no other projects.
Only disagree because he rapped for 8 years, No biggie hate. I just cant justify rapping that long and not having tangible work. You could even say it was stupid to focus his energy on bullshyt too. Features take less than an hour to bang out.

There's different types of rappers, dudes who love rapping... dudes who wanna look cool rapping and dudes who just love the art. Biggie was more like those battle rappers who wanna take mad long to have shyt cooked and then come with it like it's nothing to them to look fly. nikkas like Wayne love rapping and just want to record and knock shyt out, he doesnt care about looking cool and shyt. And dudes like Andre 3000 and Jay Elec, just want the art out of it... the politics and watering down ruins their zone and drive to be selfishly creative. They dont really care how they look or when it happens, they just want to create what makes them comfortable.

Biggie and Pac would have complimented eachother perfectly if they stayed together. But they were two dudes doing fly shyt in different ways that they enjoyed. I feel like there arent many REAL real rappers and 70% of the shyt pac did was normal with production. Besides having the talent and practice to be able to write and master lyrics, I dont see why an artist wouldnt want to be recording 24-7. Problem is with touring and people just chasing money, its deemed as just a quick come up rather than a passion and love. And since most people leech off of it, it becomes and looks like the norm to not put in work. It's almost like if NFL or NBA just got used to nikkas not going to practice or working out but being on TV and only showing up to games.
