What the fukk did these interns think they were going to do? I hate the corporate hand in music just as much as anybody else but this is bullshyt. If you're an intern you're gonna get dogged out. It's a tradition. That's why you're an intern not an employee.

Not suprising considering this lawsuit focuses on the time period when LYOR COHEN was at WarnerMusic Group

he had a history of treating interns like peasants going back to his days as an exec with DEF JAM

but to be honest....i doubt anything will come out of this as far as change

the music industry is NOT regulated by standard labor law practices

and interns for the most part dont qualify as "temp to perm" hires

this lawsuit will have to PROVE that they were guarnteed the opportunity to have permament employment in the music industry

also most if not all interns are not hired on a CONTRACTUAL BASIS

And WMG like the other majors got lawyers and lobbyists that will walk all over this frivilous lawsuit

This lawsuit has UNION written all over it and in this conservative judicial climate we have now...those interns are gonna take an L on this one :manny:

Internships have to be educational nowadays. I'm not against unpaid internships as long as you're learning about the company, field etc.

Its not bullshyt and your line of thinking is exactly why they're being sued and why companies will continue to be sued.

Ive been an intern(different field) so i know how people take advantage. That shyt aint right homie.

As an intern, you're a gopher/assistant. That's the way it's always been, and always will be. You're supposed to be taking notes while watching. If you want to do more, try and ge hired as a part-timer, in which case you'll still be doing most of the same.

at the end of the day, what a lot of ppl are too stupid to realize is that these are companies with billions of revneue. Time warner itself grosses $30B in revenue a year. Youre telling me that for the sake of shareholders its offices cant budget another $10-20 million to pay its current interns a living wage? It's a joke. Gtfoh.

But why shouldnt interns benefit when ultimately if they work hard enough as an intern they are going to work for the company and make said corporation a ton of money? Nobody is saying they should receive $60,000 a year. But they should at least be able to put food on the table.

if it doesnt benefit the corporation...why dont they say fukk interns and just hire inexperienced ppl who know nothing about the business or company when the paid \positions open up?

Interns are nothing but free labor, so in turn this lawsuit will be null:lupe:

Interns bitter they worked at Warner but didnt get to record..
no, theyre mad because they thought being at werner had more cache than Walmart. But while the folks at walmart are counting their cash, the folks at the fancy company is counting on justice being leveled. But thats the joys of being america: either low pay or no pay.

;comeon: HOLLYWOOD has a credible union kmown as S.A.G (SCREEN. ACTORS GUILD) which has alot of.advocates foe interns whom work in all aspects of film and tv

music on the other hand has NO CREDIBLE UNIONS or ADVOCACY GROUPS
