Noone wants to live in Oklahoma. MIA and LA is correct. People who move to NYC from London Paris and Berlin do so for a JOB rarely by choice. New York isn't somewhere you leave cushy Europe to just pack up and go to. It has a rep for being rough.
God NYC real estate prices compared to London Paris and Berlin is a joke, most of my family in NYC want to move here. It is ridiculously expensive for nothing. Unless your firm offers you a raise (big) to balance it out there is no point moving there.
The subway is dirty compared to the London tube and Paris and Berlin subways, the rats are just disgusting, the living space is tiny. You can't live the standard of living you can afford here in the big European cities.
Breh as people have said NYC is good to relocate to for a really good job (REALLY REALLY good job you couldn't get in London Paris or Berlin) Otherwise there are many other American cities which people eye up.
Noone in Europe is running to move to NYC. Now immigrants from Africa, Asia, South America now that's another story......

I was living in Marietta, OH for college. I only went there for two years then moved back to Pittsburgh in 2004.
But in that time I went to Columbus, Dayton, Youngstown, Akron, Cincinatti, Cleveland, Athens, and other areas.
Ohio sucks. That state is boring. There's nothing worth a damn out there unless you like college football. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
