A lot football is moving to more of a 3-4 defense. I never thought we'd see this many teams in 3-4 in the NFL. I guess it's to stop all this offensive spread stuff that we're seeing.

I still like 4-3. I'm the DC at middle school team and now the new High School head coach is changing things up and now I have to coach the 3-4.

it doesn't really matter to me.

build around the personnel you got.. i think as offenses get better and better.. most teams will turn to hybrid looks.

You have to base your defense on personnel. If you don't have the linebackers or the speed for 3-4 you have to go 4-3.

Remember a 3-4 will also need a huge dt and two 3-4 ends who tend to be heavier and slower, but stronger than 4-3 Ends. Your 3 down linemen will free up space so your linebackers can make plays.

For the high school level 4-3 is probably your best bet, unless you have a bevy of fast linebackers and a big kid you can plug at nose tackle :ld:

I can come up with a lot of schemes out the 3-4. More than with the 4-3. I'm starting to like it.

3-4. You have to account for which one of those LBs is coming and it's more of a task than 4-3. But at the same time I think the personnel is more difficult to fill in a 3-4. But you can do more with it.
