Just watched Jan's last few fights, dude is so slow and basic I would be shocked if Izzy doesn't style on dude. Imo getting Whittaker's scalp for the 2nd time is bigger than beating Jan, but I get the whole "champ champ" thing for marketing and legacy purposes.

The main event is a pick 'em fight, but you'll have to give Izzy the slight edge because he can win in more ways.

Path to winning for Izzy will either be to finish Jan via KO or decision. Jan can finish Izzy, but I don't see him winning a decision, though he can KO or submit Izzy. I think Jan is too strong to be submitted by Izzy unless he manages to catch him in something like a heel hook.

That said, I think Izzy decided against adding the extra weight because they intend on tiring out Jan after 3 rounds to earn a decision or if they are willing to risk it, go for the knockout.

Izzy has never been KO'd in his MMA career while Jan has. So the edge goes to Izzy there as well. Izzy's plan will likely be to fight at range a la Costa and evade all night. He will be more conservative than in recent fights and will look to evade rather than counter and pick his shots. If Jan gets too eager he will get KO'd.

Jan has to grind Izzy out. Try and press him against the cage and just make it a grapplefest. Any other way and he gets beaten. Izzy can definitely get KO'd, but I think his movement will be too good for Jan to hit cleanly.

I'd be inclined to pick Izzy in a wide unanimous decision. If Jan gets desperate late on, then he might get finished.

Jan hits harder than Costa. But I think isreal could survive his striking. I think isreal pulls a slick ko in later rounds or by ud.

I remember trashing $1k on a fight at ufc 239 (don’t need to say what fight ) so I was , I threw $300 on Jan by KO against Luke Rockhold, to win $1500.

wasn’t nearly as satisfying for catching me up as it was to see Luke talk all that shyt just to get spun around and utterly demolished

same applies to Jan vs reyes, everyone thought that this was reyes belt but Jan came in looking prepared and focused and I am not sure if reyes will ever look the same again.

so I’m tempted to throw on Jan again but it’s hard to get in the way of a man destined to rule for a good amount of time.

I do think the more likelier upset is this fight somehow being boring. Think Israel vs Yoel or Jan vs Jacare. Hopefully not though.

True and Jan has an unfortunate habit of chasing after people striking which is how Santos knocked his top off. But it’s a small cage and he has the power advantage in terms of striking and grappling. Wouldn’t be surprised if he won. Also wouldn’t be surprised if the fight is complete shyt. I would honestly pick Jan if he was southpaw since Izzy struggles against them

This fight make me even more curious to see how jones does at heavyweight because power there is completely different
