The issue with TNA is that they had grown stagnant with that direction. Before Hogan and Bischoff, ratings and buyrates were back on the decline, so they tried something different. It was obviously a disaster in the end, but they also had their best year of ratings and best U.S. gate under that regime.

The worst thing about this: many wrestlers actually did request for their release after this meeting but were denied.

The debuts were weird too. Hogan bringing in X-Pac, Hall, Nasty Boys, Val Venis, and Bubba the Sponge was the definition of trying to hard. Not to mention the Monday Nights thing.
