Ain't no such thing as a sucker punch during a street fight. You can have a sucker punch before or after, but not during. If you are in the middle of a street fight then you should assume you are going to get hit so you need to protect yourself at all times because you can get it from anybody in that fight. If you are through fighting then run. Everybody knows what that means. Big man could have legitimately thought the dude by the car was trying to get a weapon. So I am OK with that knockout by the car.

Street fights are just like football. Don’t assume the play is over until they blow the whistle (also known as the cops have arrived) and don't stand around the pile (an ongoing scrum) if you are not in the play (you are not actively fighting) because somebody might be ready to take a cheap shot at you.

With this many people you can't discern one threat from another so yeah, anybody present that is close enough gets handled cause all it takes is one to slip into your blind spot and it's curtains for you.
