Yeah, essentially a variation of "killer probes" not sure I can bring myself to believe countless potential civilizations would subscribe to it though. Also, "dark forest", for me, works as a narrative setting, but it falls short as motivation - we would have been detected long before we sent those messages out if that was the case. but it's still very interesting premise. show was entertaining and it sounds as though the books are dope

Fugazi Keira Knightley is not a very convincing scientist. Should've made her a venture capitalist because turning on the nanofiber machine couple of times was as deep as they went into her scientific abilities.

Using nanofibers to slice the ship into hundreds of pieces was the dumbest way to 'safely' retrieve the communication with San-Ti. High Sparrow had to hold the drive at the perfect height while he was sliced in half and then slowly fall on it so it doesn't get crushed by the rest of the ship collapsing onto itself.

Saul the Wallfacer is such a high priority target for the San-Ti that they decided to send a Proud Boy member to take him out instead of just crashing his plane in the middle of the Atlantic.

Young Dr. Ye did her thing, show was more captivating during flashback scenes. Also present day Dr. Ye's character felt underused, not sure if she was handled differently in the book.

Friend group chemistry was not great, it wasn't Wheel of Time terrible but should've been better. One-night-stand Ygritte did more in her 2 minutes of screen time, before she got moved down by an Audi, than Auggie and Jack did the whole season.

i enjoyed it quite a bit

certain things that i thought weren't that good/interesting... maybe some of the acting talent leaves something to be desired, but overall it's a good watch knowing very little about the books.

i know there are 3 books though, did that season cover one book? was it stuff from multiple books? just trying to gauge how far into the story they are without getting spoilers. i'm hoping that was 1 book since netflix has a tendency to cancel shyt because there's no way i see this lasting more than 3ish seasons since people seem to think it's too hard to follow a couple very clearly shown different timelines and people playing a video game. i swear mfs are stupid these days.

Maybe I was high, but that was the most chilling scene I've ever watched... Mainly because the "what ifs"

Like imagine we get back a message from space and it's one alien saying "ARE Y'ALL fukkING CRAZY. YOU LUCKY I SAW THIS. DON'T SAY ANOTHER MOTHERfukkING WORD OR WE'LL COME THERE AND CONQUER YOU." And said it with zero issues or concerns that they would lose or couldn't get there in the first place.
