The year 3030

There's someone behind everything. You just have to dig.
3 Body Problem premieres on Netflix March 21st, 2024.

From multiple Emmy Award-winning creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones), and Emmy-nominated Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy, True Blood) comes 3 Body Problem, a thrilling story that redefines sci-fi drama with its layered mysteries and genre-bending high stakes. Based on the acclaimed, international bestselling book trilogy, The Three-Body Problem.

A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes five former colleagues reunite to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.

Never read the books but this sci-fi nerd dude that I started following for his Game of Thrones/ASOIAF breakdowns has covered them extensively and I picked up the plot and a lot of the lore…should be a dope series

Interesting, better than the teaser Trailer and it definitely looks like they’re merging the first and second book. Def looks “Americanized” so I wondering/worried how they’ll translate that since it looks like they’re using new characters.

I tried and tried to read this.

To me the 3 Body Problem is science ficiton of old, like Asimov Foundation type science fiction - where the science and the ideas is way more important than the fiction, prose, plot, character, etc. It sort of reminds me of The Quantum Thief in how more idea focused it is than story focused.

I found that it gets a bit easier further along from the back half of the 2nd book into the 3rd. There’s a lot of explaining of the concepts in the first and second book that pay off later. Also, I think since it’s translated from Chinese makes it a bit harder to understand for some things.

Quinn’s ideas does a really good summary so if you just want to know the bigger concepts and plot, that might be best.

Last month's trailer is the intro to the public that it deserves. Definitely a lot more gripping than the one from last year.

I really hope it takes off and gets renewed because the second book has 1-2 scenes that will give the Red Wedding a run for its money.

Not only that, but the concepts like the ETO, the wallbreakers, etc are so imaginative and thought-provoking that it'll be great to see them on film.

I've heard this DOESN'T have much action, and is much more a slow burning drama. I'm intrigued to check it out.
