Of course you would save more in NYC with that salary vs some somewhere in the sticks. You do not have to live in Manhattan or some "hip" place and people are doing good making less than that. In Mayberry you have to drive everywhere so you need a car, insurance, gas and maintenance off the rip, so you are fukked right there.

You could easily save 4k in NYC after tax with that salary, more than what the sucker that is living in Flyoverville can with his whole check pre tax.
