:hubie:just my opinion,
history wise I don't recall folks from 1950's with a wave of names like those ...

but with the Malcolm x movement and of course 5 percent nation movement 1960's/70's. you had dudes from the 1980's they started a wave of names like Tyriek,Shamel, Ramel, etc.... . you even had a couple spanish NY born those puerto ricans naming those names too from the godbody 5% percent movement . In my opinion/observation, it became regular to name your kids those names in the hood.
now names Dequantavious outside the NY or east :yeshrug:

A lot of those names in the South are spin offs of Five Percenter / NOI names from guys that moved back South. But you also have the Moorish Science Temple influence that played a factor. The “Quan” names are all over and not just in NYC. Some of those names been around since slavery though.

It’s not even the original ones from the Woo and Choo its the young ones doing this. A lot of them just now getting back out from the past 5 years. Some have been in and out of jail since it started. These kids ruining themselves and the old ones around them should know better.

NYC needs to go back to being a hustlers city. Gang banging is for peasants smdh.
New York always had gangs. It’s no different from any major metropolitan city in the country. The thing is before there was bloods and crips and Latin kings there was gangs. You have the Godbodys, Lo-Life’s etc. The crews from the crack era were basically gangs. Why do you think New York had a murder rate back then of 1k, 1.8k, 2k? It was crews which were gangs beefing with each other for territory. The thing was bloods, crips and Latin Kings were the first “supergangs” that stretched to all 5 boros. Before then you had what you have now local clicks and sets beefing with each other. Two crews in the Bronx would beef with each other and no one from Brooklyn would know. Once bloods took over a blood from the Bronx was well connected with a blood from Staten Island or Queens. The bloods and Latin king beef then after bloods vs crips war stretched all five boroughs. A blood from Brooklyn would get gunned down by a crip in Queens. Those three gangs unified the five boros eventually they got cracked down hard by Giuliani and then Bloomberg. Thing is gangs was always in New York.

same with toronto clowns and all this stems from drill music. but brehs claim music is just entertainment...

Black boys in london shanking each other talking about Ops
Black boys in Toronto shoooting each other talking about Ops

don't @ me with a conversation about the deeper meaning behind these bum activities.
There was no drill music in the 70s/80/90s. In those dark days in New York the city saw 900-2000 murders a year. Bangouts everyday in all five boroughs. This cycle of violence goes way back then.

Nah this gang war predates drill. This war has been going for 10 years in BK. So this beef shyt has been going for a decade now. Lots of blood got shed. And it will still go on for
another 10 years unfortunately.

These young nikkas in BKLYN are wilding right now.

the gang banging shyt is out of control and it’s like they don’t realize, that’s all the feds need to end their life. An affiliation. It’s sad because they not learning that from all the indictments that come. Same cases built off conspiracy. Social media tying everyone together. It’s too easy for the feds
