I'm one of the biggest Yankees haters out here, but nah, that was Jeter's team. No way was A-Rod coming to NY & taking his position. And Jeter was clutch as f*ck.
If he was a true leader, he would have recognized that Arod was the better shortstop and thus put the team in the best position to win. And he would have stepped aside.

Because that's what leaders do.

Shout out to @Rell Lauren, @krazykid18, and the dude that didn’t vote for Jeter for keeping it real :salute:

Jeter is the most overrated athlete on and off the field. He isn’t a top 10 player in his franchise’s history and he’s not even in the conversation of the best Shortstops of all time. I’d slap somebody if they even tried to argue him being in the top 5

And his greatness as a “playboy” is even more over exaggerated than his baseball career. Dude knocked down a bunch of skinny coke head looking white girls there’s nothing impressive about that. A-Rod topped him on and off the field.

Jeter belongs in the HOF.
But honestly he's in that middle to bottom tier of HOFers.

His bat is what got him there. But his glove arguably cost the Yankees more games than people would like to admit.

Jeter hit .310/.377/.
2 outs,
WS, game 7,
bottom of the 9th
runner on third
and down by 1,

you picking A-Rod over Jeter?
:stopitslime:
You understand how much variance there is in 1 AB?

I would pick Arod every time.

Because if that event happened 600 times, more often than not, Alex would be more successful than Derek.

Just to put it in another perspective....

Would you rather have Derek Jeter at the plate in a game winning situation or Barry Bonds?

Anyone with a brain would say Bonds.

And what if I told you that from 1990 through 2000, Bonds had 27 playoff games and hit .196/.319/.299 ??

You'd all be saying "with more ABs the REAL Bonds would show up" and you'd be right.

Same with ARod

Shoutout to the Jeter, who took MJ's "take no stances at all" playbook and took it to new heights. The main reason why all these Yankee fans of a certain type have loved him all these years. :mjlol:
