Asians are predisposed to being good at maths because of their language. Add to that a culture of hardwork and perseverance (essential attributes in maths) and you have a winning combo.

It's not by accident that they dominate the league.

"Results from hierarchical linear model (HLM) with students nested within schools demonstrated three key findings: (a) competitive learning had a statistically significant positive though small relationship with mathematics performance in all four countries, (b) cooperative learning had a statistically significant positive though small relationship with mathematics performance in the three East Asian countries but not in the USA, and (c) the relationship between competitive learning and mathematics performance was as strong as the relationship between cooperative learning and mathematics performance across the three East Asian countries.
Although American students are stronger competitive and cooperative learners than their East Asian peers, they are not effective users of either learning style for the improvement of mathematics performance likely because of the way that both learning styles are practiced in American mathematics classrooms. Teacher education may hold the key to improve the educational practice of different learning styles as a strategy to improve mathematics performance of students in the USA and beyond."

It has nothing to do with language, its both the education system itself, the pedagogy style of the teacher, the emphasis on mathematics earlier in life, and the culture of competition fostered within schools. When First and Second generation East Asian students come to the US, they are often placed in competitive schools and reared by adults who were also educated in these schools, not to mention the immigration standards set by the US that make it so the parents of these students are usually educated at the undergraduate level at least.

Only 30 million people, colder (colder nations tend to be more educated) and there's another difference between Canada and the US but I'm gonna leave it out :youngsabo:
:mjlol: Colder nations tend to be Northern nations, and I'm sure you're aware of the disparity between the North and the South.

:mjlol:

what type of pseudoscience is this?
Canada, Finland, Estonia, Norway, etc. Even in the states, the north is more educated than the south

The cold forces people to stay inside and they're more than likely to read a book, watch an informational documentary or something constructive than in warmer weather areas which makes people more likely to spend time doing athletic activity or partying

lmao bruh those are all socialist democratic nations

by your logic Russia should be just as smart them?

right wing stupidity is holding the USA so far back its not even funny. Reagan singlehandedly set this country back decades and continues to do so from beyond the grave.

i think the US could be the leader in education, but our govt doesnt focus on that. we are the richest country in the world. we can afford to pay our teachers more and provide free college education. increasing teachers' salary and increasing qualifications could definitely go a lot way. its crazy that we have ppl with AA degrees teaching our children.

As well as equalising funding for all of the education systems and taking away "states rights" in education.

Do we really need Gym? Do we really need Spanish? Do we really need music class?

Yes to all three, provides a balance. Many people outside of America speak multiple languages. Gym provides exercise and promotes health and wellness and music provides a window to the arts.

exactly. we cant have states like texas and alabama that want students to learn about creationism. education is way too important to leve it up to states with repubs who just politicize everything.

These statistics are slightly misleading.

America's problem is not that they (we) don't produce enough of the top people in academics. That's actually not the issue at all.
The issue is relative to the size of the country, they (we) produce waaaaaaaay too many people who are at the bottom of the barrel.

I'm not dismissing the later as an issue, because it clearly is. I just want to make sure everyone fully understand what they are reading.

Not to mention our biggest competition hands down when it comes to military and we even use their equipment when it comes to space we use and depend on their rockets

The American education system is quite different from other countries where there is greater control by the State on education. Some of these former British colonies like Singapore most likely dont have a school board run by parents who think they can design a curriculum as well as professionals. Those countries have an Education ministry that determines the curriculum no questions asked instead of Bill Oreilly types sitting on school boards talking about how slaves received room and board and it was not that bad.. However, the best school systems in some states are just as competitive as other nations.

They speak multiple languages because they have to. They either border countries that speak different lanaguages or they're non English speaking countries that want their citizens to be able to do business with the most powerful nations in the world (the English speaking ones)

Many obese/indolent people who are 18+ and took nothing substantial away from gym class

I'm aight with music/art class. They shouldn't be FT though
