Once Jack Swagger won it, MiTB died imo. Then they started having a WHC MiTB and WWE Title MiTB and that shyt was so stupid. Rollins, Bryan, and Ambrose are the only good cash ins this decade.

Yeah ... they've had some dumb decisions but looking back on it, MITB should have gone to someone who "had all the tools in the world to be a major player" but for one reason or another, was unable to put it together until they got the case i.e. the break they needed. It worked for Edge especially given his trajectory at the time. RVD, nailed it. Punk, nailed it the first time (never should have won it the second time), Bryan, Rollins, Ambrose, nailed it. Even Miz.

Swagger might have been the death knell. And they fukked it even more by giving it to Orton and Cena, knowing damn well they didn't need the case to be considered championship material.

They came really close that one year they loaded it up with guys like Cena and Big Show. I don’t remember all the names in it but it was a real lineup for a match like that
