getting a platinum in this day and age is like celebrating getting a toy in a happy meal :mjlol:

people say this but it's really on jay, ye, drake, kendrick and cole going platinum consistently. which other albums are going platinum? half these nikkas aren't even getting gold plaques. singles are something else entirely.

Yep it's true, He already has 7, he's on a good pace but can he maintain these numbers the 2nd half of his career remains to be seen. He also got #1 off a two "Mixtapes" and "Playlist" even though they are all basically "Albums"

drake fans only consider them albums when its convenient...

more life wasnt considered an album to drake fans when DAMN beat more lifes first week numbers

I'm gonna say the same thing I say every time an artist runs this scam. Sprint did not buy a million copies because there are no copies of a digital album. It all happens on paper. Sprint just cut Jay Z a check and then allowed people to stream the album.

According to Tidal/Sprint its been streamed 1.5 billion times in less than week. That probably didn't happen. Spotify, Apple and Tidal lie about numbers constantly. The whole streaming industry is based on made up self reported numbers.

These plaques are all for show and to get fans excited...but thats always been the case

:patrice: this isn't entirely true...if this were the case every executive in the music business would be signing their nieces, nephews, and college roommates kids to multi-million dollar deals

Flo-rida and Pit Bull have been eating good off of streaming singles for some years now, that money isn't just formulating out of thin air

Honestly I’m surprised Jay Z stans are being this much of a nuisance now, what with overpraising an album that’s probably only good because of how disappointing MCHG was in comparison

I'm not really surprised at most critics saying its just above average
u mad huh

It only works if the artist is a big enough star to add value to the streaming company Apple, Tidal, Spotify. It's mutually beneficial.

Worldstar on the low pioneered this for local rappers. Pay us 10 grand and we'll say a million people watched your video

you can create a "pop" star with enough money and resources

worldstar may be fluffing views (which i don't believe), but their web traffic is legit -
according to alexa.com they're the 277th most trafficked site in the U.S. and top 1,000th on planet earth, that's extremely impressive
Worldstarhiphop.com Traffic, Demographics and Competitors - Alexa

Everything about this is fishy as hell.

And you'd have to be a huge delusional stan to deny it.

I love the album personally, but this was one of the most "corporate" roll outs of a hip hop album i've ever seen

jay-z is trying to save his company, i would not be surprised if the staged platinum album photo shoot wasn't pre-planned months ago
