I wouldn’t let my child play RB, the position is undervalued and just not worth it
I definitely agree and get what you're saying, but the alternative is tough for RBs. For most the body type doesn't translate to many other opportunities. Only a few could switch to DB, the rest better get into soccer from a young age.

This is great, once these players are able to start making money off of their likeness, this will become the norm IMO.

You don't have to guess the type of people that are vehemently against this. But that is par the course anytime a black man makes a decision he feels is best for himself. Rumors out that this came about because he got into a fight with a teammate and blew up on his coaches, and this opting out is just a cover. Regardless, I don't care as long as he balls out when he gets to UT.

Smart move, hopefully he doesn’t lose his scholarship

That’s what I was scared of, so I played. I torn my knee apart junior year, was really hesitant to return senior year but I hadn’t committed yet and wasn’t a top recruit guaranteed my choice if I missed the season so I played and reinjured myself senior year. Red shirted my freshman year at my choice (legacy) but it was conditional and it was a debilitating knee injury that would only get worse and took me all the way out.

I wish I would’ve sat my senior year like I wanted given how it turned out.

The comments on here and forums like tigerdroppings is night and day.

Let me guess

a predominantly white forum that believes this kid is soft, lack toughness, blah blah etc?

I’m glad athletes coming up are no longer brainwashed to this way of thinking. At the end of the day, this is just entertainment.

God dam this generation soft as fukk.

That's all I'll say on this.
He gains nothing and risks everything playing his senior year if he is committed to the program of his choice with a protected scholarship. Has absolutely nothing to do with being soft. The stress you put your body under going into a collegiate program from is more than anything you experience once you are in a collegiate program.

I mean he can still get processed which i hope he doesn't. College is a ruthless game, if they see a kid with new tape that look better than his then best of luck to him.
This won't become a trend tho. Most kids aint trying to leave shyt up to chance.

I missed my entire senior year of football but received a scholarship based on my junior but that was because I was injured.

I don’t see this becoming a Trend unless you play a position that has a lot of wear & tear on the body like a running back. The coaches control a lot of things in HS, I can’t see players at top high schools sitting out senior years unless their junior year was exceptional.

Like I’m in Texas which is a like a Mecca of HS football, so these schools are super competitive and kids will want to play..

Yeah it’s gonna be a trend across the board, mainly only amongst top RBs most likely :yeshrug:

But there’s gonna be that one diva ass linebacker/safety that does this shyt too :mjlol:
