40 gotta be one of the last New Producers who are actually students of music.

The Dream/Tricky Steward/Kanye.

He even apologized to Kanye and told him he was listening to 808s before making Drake album .

That whole muted sound is ripped straight from The Dream and Tricky. Pretty much all his soft ass drums and patterns came from Ye.

So we are going to ignore 9th wonder? Terrance Martin? Statik Selektah?

Tons of producers don't sample at all because of the costs associated with it. Not because they are not 'students of the game' or something.

9th predates 40, not familiar enough with the other two. I`m talking pure sampling.

can't say I'm a fan of 40's work. Boi-1da to me is really the guy that makes Drake listenable because of those hard beats.

I say this as you can tell by the stuff he samples, he seems to be one of the last dudes from that Just Blaze,Ye, DJ Paul Juicy J, etc cloth of cats who really dig through the crates and flip beats something nasty.

:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

Jake One is the one who found that sample and flipped it. 40 did have a choir come in and re-perform it after they bought the beat though.
