nah it'll work it's just that you should make sure the TV is 10 Bit HDR and supports WCG(wide color gamut). Them real cheap $200 4K TVs probably don't have all that so it'll be like a lower version of HDR simply speaking.

Like I said, I put a 43 in my bedroom and it's a lot better than the 1080p I had in there. You'll be satisfied with it for now.

We are entering the 6 series. These are no longer branded “SUHD” but will still offer 4K resolution. Samsung also advertises HDR but be aware that none of the 6 series models have the hardware to reproduce HDR, hence “HDR processing”. They can receive the HDR material but not reproduce it.

If you bought your TV from any other retailer than Best Buy and it's not the Vizio 2016 P series there's a 90% change it doesn't have those things. Especially if you got it from Walmart, Sams, or Target.

It's not a lower version of HDR either. Those TVs without the WCG and 10 bit panels can accept an HDR signal but without those two things they can't display HDR.

If the TV can accept an HDR signal the manufacturer will put HDR on the box even if it doesn't display it.

To be listed, the television must support the HDR10 standard at the time of writing (not including "upcoming firmware updates"), must support 10-Bit color (as defined by Rtings, which includes native 10-bit panels without 8-bit banding and 8-bit panels with dithering to create 10-bit colors), and of course have a 4K panel. Input lag isn't really a decider, although if you're a competitive gamer, it should definitely be taken into consideration.



Peak / Sustained brightness has not been used to give or bar entry on to the list, but if there's demand for it, I can create a multiple tier system based on brightness and 10bit vs 8bit coloring. There is of course a difference in HDR quality based on brightness potential of the display.
