One thing I love about disco is the string arrangements. That was probably the last time that strings would be heavily used in pop music.

Chic's use of strings I like their music because it was smooth and sophisticated.

no, it didn't really end. It went underground and then became House music which led to modern Dance/EDM

Way too out of my generation but I never understood the mass hate wypipo have against disco.

It was a specific type of white person that hated it. It was really anglo whites/rock heads that hated it. In NYC it was normal to see Italian whites (some jews too) partying to Disco/djing it.
