Niners need a receiver who can stretch the field. Wes isnt that guy. Also we barely run 3-WR sets, and when we do, Crabs has done extremely well in the slot. We need a long ball threat type of guy who demands coverage downfield...and honestly, the defense is more of a concern now to me, much more so than the offense

:ehh: Ya, I don't don't really no enough about your guys O I guess. Looks like you guys are in the same boat as us Pats. Slot fine, need someone to stretch the field.

I wish my Pats had your guys D problems. Whats the word with Dashon Goldson. You guys going to let him test FA, or franchise him?

nah Welker is that dude still, he makes so many catches throughout the year!

If he leaves the Pats, then we need to bring in Hartline, he could excel here.

:rudy: man fukk the regular season.. im tired of having all these good ass season n not showin up when it matters.. id rather him have an average season n do work in the playoffs... cant wait till he's gone :pacspit:

Goldson spoke out against a tag recently, so either pay up or let him go

personally I was never a huge fan, just because he really is a SS playing FS, and while he delivers monster hits, his coverage and tackling are mediocre.

then again, Im a big proponent of consistent coverage vs big plays. and tbh there arent many young FS out there who can cover like Earl Thomas or something. so letting him go could prove a mistake. he could move to SS when whitner leaves or something, but he wants eric weddle money.

shyt aint going to change till we fix the secondary. And keep Gronk healthy for a whole Playoff run.

Maybe maybe not... but we've hadd 2 big chances that welker shattered that come to mind.. one last year superbowl and a 3rd down against the ravens... plus we dont need to pay him what he wants eldeman cal do just as much

Goldson can bytch about the Tag all he wants, it is what it is.

But ya the safety market is week. Byrd is likely to get franchised by the Bills. And Ed, well Ed is Ed. Who the fukk knows what he wants..

My Pats need a SS next to McC. I would really like Goldson. But you saying his "coverage and tackling are mediocre", just makes me worry about the money.

I think he stays in San Fran tho..

hed be a better SS than FS, Im sure of it.

his tackling problems are usually from taking bad angles and going for the big hit instead of wrapping up, as the last line of defense. plus he cheats a lot towards LoS and bites on playaction

I did think he was slightly better in coverage this year, but he got shytted on in the playoffs, just like the rest of the secondary.

all I know is I wont shed any tears if he leaves. or anyone in the secondary leaves for that matter. they are all overrated based on the front 7 putting in work

Good lord. Sounds like you're describing Brandon Meriweather. Meriweather would always take bad angles, always go for the big hit, get beat on PA. The guy had the tools to be a good SS but just could not get it together.

It really does start with the front 7 tho does it not. They make a average secondarys look good. And you guys are set with that front 7. I am sure Harbs and Baalke will fix the secondary. Which from someone who only watched a few games looked good all things considered.

Your team is young as hell and a few miscues for and against, from a SB.

But even with all that, dude proved he's not a fluke, I would rather keep him, and trade Whitner, our options at safety are thin and I'm ok with overpaying Goldson. He's still a top 5 safety, and he'll get a max contract from some team, we jammed ourselves up by not locking him up 2 years ago when we could've kept for dirt cheap, unless you like Trent Robinson.

That being said, I would rather keep Moss than get Welker, Moss is way cheaper and we can get a stopgap receiver until Manningham gets fully healthy, I'd rather get Dwayne Bowe or Greg Jennings.

Moss would be wayyyyy cheaper than welker. Plus moss was more of a decoy than people realize. Regardless of tbe fact, I think welker would be hell in the slot on quick slants out of the pistol along with crabtree but we have manningham for that if he's healthy.

safeties having to worry bout welker in the slot and vernon davis running down the seam.:takedat:

we have whitner for dirt cheap for one more year so I dont see why wed trade him, then he's gone.

I dont like overpaying for a player who has major coverage weaknesses to me :manny: hence why Im fine with letting him go if this means we can trade for revis. a gimped revis with a cheap FS (or even one of our corners converted to a safety) will make more impact on this team then goldson signed long-term and a rookie cb, imo

with that said, what I think happens is we get some players to restructure and resign him anyway.

But this is what I'm saying there aren't that many good coverage safeties who can hit and Dashon's coverage has improved by quite a bit. I would rather trade Whitner for an additional pick, assuming we would trade one or two to get Revis. Goldson wasn't the issue, Whitner is, even though he's pretty good overall. I would keep Goldson and lose Whitner. We as a team have either gambled at safety and got burned, or had talent and didn't develop it (Taylor Mays). I think we will draft Elam though I would prefer Vacarro, and would like to see Goldson move to Strong Safety, but either way, we are nuts to let Goldson Walk, unless its all but guaranteed we are getting Revis.
