The more I think about it, the more I absolutely hate that they changed Jeff Cobbs name. JC Mateo is a very trash name.

What makes it even worse: It’s not even like the Ricky Starks/Saints thing. I disliked the new name, but at least they did to where they just refused to say his name. Only teasing at it (having Ricky refer to himself as "The Absolute One" and having the roster say they know who he is) until it was time to reveal the new names.

They could have done the same thing in this situation when he debuted at Backlash. You could have just referred to him as the hottest free agent on the wrestling market and left it at that. But you literally had Michael Cole on commentary screaming “ITS JEFF COBB!!!!!!” just a week ago... only to change his name less than a week later

Retconning his name in <7 days is definitely silly, but is JC Mateo really any worse than Jeff Cobb . It’s pretty damn generic

Ok so i wasn't the only one that was slightly bothered by the name change. Moreso Cole calling him Jeff Cobb then a few days later hes JCPenney or whatever
