Times have changed, no one buys albums anymore for the most part. Kendrick had a massive debut and only did 200k. 10 years ago that's a flop.

Relevancy in music nowadays is youtube hits, radio play, and touring. Album sales don't equate to how many people listening to your music

Adele got old white women who don't know how to download music buying a large portion of her stuff. shyt, I used to work at Best Buy, I've seen who was buying her CDs.

Not a single rap artist could go diamond today. It's not even worth discussing. A rap artist's fanbase is too tech savvy and young to sit there and buy CDs. And I doubt 68 year old Martha from Long Island is going to buy Young Jeezy anytime soon.
