I really enjoyed the fight but this discourse following it is silly. When two equally skilled fighters get in the ring, you usually get a fight like this. People are way too emotionally invested in these dudes, whether it be hating or loving them.

The judges are not giving a challenger the benefit for just competing. It's a tale as old as time. You have to go in there and clearly take rounds. Loma had 2 clear rounds (10, 11) but if you're trying to take a belt, you have to give more than that and you sure as hell can't be taking off the 12th round. He didn't do enough. Judging is always gonna be skewed toward the champion, whether we agree with it or not. It's not the first time Loma has fukked himself over taking rounds off. He basically lost the Teo fight by taking off the entire first half.

I feel like Devin Haney took this fight to receive the validation he always craved. Instead, he came out with a lot more haters. He should embrace the villain role because he can make millions being the top villain of the 135 division.
Of course. He was called the email champ because Loma vacated the title when Haney became mandatory.

Feather fisted yet avoided by Lopez, JoJo Diaz and Ryan Garcia.

Switched promoters became undisputed but people asked who did he fight.

Breh was not only booed in America but in his hometown. Let that sink in.

At this point Haney can only embrace the hate like Floyd.

I don’t know think he can stay at 135 any longer, Haney looked uncharacteristic in a few late rounds. It was either him in his own head worried about critics, or the weight bothering him.

I rewatched this fight and I have no clue how fighters thought devin lost, maybe the crowd influenced them in that cause im honestly confused. In fact I don't think it was a close fight at all rewatching it, loma gave up a shyt ton of rounds outside of 10 and 11. shyt even tanks coach Kenny Ellis think loma lost badly, he gave up so many rounds and was getting countered and caught to the body and head on his flurries all fight with power shots. Devin needs to clean up his straight right defense, but this was a great performance from him. He stepped out of his confront zone and brought it to loma. Great fight.

One more thing terrible advice by Bill telling his son to take off round 10.

I wish Shawn Porter would have put this Bensonhurt trash in a coma

This is why he got fired from Showtime....his racism just comes out whenever he babbles.

The MMA angle is also tiring....like they don't have controversial decisions and only best fighters get put on, when a washed Mcgregor has lost his last 3 outta 4 fights and they bringing him back as the mainevent this year because the numbers are down.

Boxing somehow is always dead/dying when shyt don't go their way.

haney HAS to work on his defense tho. Waaaaay to easy to hit
It was a weird fight, I think for the most part he held loma to his worst inefficient offensive output but he was taking straight shots you just can't take and need to correct asap. He looked tired af by round 10, those two rounds he took on the most shots than the fight % average from loma. Loma was at a high ass volume shots thrown and missed. It ws a crazy pace for that fight

I’m glad we got a good fight, but score cards were trash. Loma pushed the pace. Body shots are good, but it didn’t deter Loma and Haney didn’t use them to go up top effectively. Haneys best shots were one punch counters. You could see Loma was mad at the end- probably because he knew how bad those last rounds fukked him over. I’d like to see a rematch if Loma is hungry for it.

I’ll have to rewatch round by round but I don’t know brehs…
The only scorecard that was trash was the 112-116 where the judge gave the 10th to Haney, the other two cards were scored correctly.

Loma fought well enough to warrant a rematch, but the outcome of the match was fair.

Commentary didn't help. You had Bradley coming up with narratives as soon as round 1 started. :russ:

I'm not a fan of Devin like that. But I came out a bigger fan of him than when I went into the fight. He showed grit, ate a lot of shots, and fought through it. I think it's time for him to get another trainer in his corner though. His pops didn't have anything for him when he was needing adjustments.

On the flipside, I think that's probably the hardest fight Loma has fought. He lost to Teo but he didn't lose like that. He was getting punished to the body all night. If Devin had some pop to his punches like Spence, Loma would've been finished. I've never seen someone land that many body punches on him.

Oh and I don't get how a 116-112 card is crazy (outside of giving Haney round 10, which definitely is not right). If there are as many swing rounds in this fight as people are claiming, it's not really any worse than 115-113. People aren't really out here scoring these damn fights :dead:

I said before Haney meeds to cash out vs Tank, blame the KO on being drained and then try to snatch that 140 WBA off Rolly if Ryan doesnt do it first (and if he does then Ryan vs Dev is another money fight)

You do realize that being knocked out changes a boxers career forever?

This is not something one should just say matter of factly. He's honestly better off moving up ASAP and hoping Tank can meet him at 140 down the line.

I def want to see the Tank-Haney fight tho.

99% of these fans crying about the judges scores couldn't name and describe the scoring criteria and how it's applied round by round if you asked them to do so without the help of google.

This reminds me of all the hoopla about nothing in regards to Floyd-Castillo I (which Castillo won no more than 3 rds) in which HBO's commentary crew and the biased ethno-nationalist crowd swayed the public's opinion on what really happened in that fight.
