Because it isn't just Hawaiian/surfer thing. It's an islander thing in general. And he comes from a family of islanders. It's the same thing as a white dude throwing up the devil horns when something rad happens. Just a celebratory thing. Sami was fist bumping after hitting one of his moves on Cesaro and no one cared. Breh was excited at hitting a dope move and thought he had the match won.
Basically any Polynesian wrestler throws the shaka, even ones not related to Roman's family. Haku and Barb threw it, Joe throws it, Fale throws it, Usos throw it, Headshrinkers threw it, Yoko threw it when face, Rock throws it, Snuka threw it. It's weird you've never noticed or had never even heard/seen it in a non-wrestling context. It's pretty common in movies/TV set around beaches and was very popular in general in the early-mid 90s.
Cage match actually killed all of the hype.

The Fatal 4 Way was excellent entertainment with the right result - they need to keep Miz as a heat magnet whilst Owens and Zayn are tearing lumps off each other - they need to be locked in spoiling each others title chances for a little while yet. Cesaro got next on the belt.
Charlotte Vs Natty was superb. They have great chemistry and I can't get enough of them together tbh... I'm really glad Natty got this feud before the bookers shot their load on Sasha.. even if she doesn't get her hands on the belt (keeping it on Charlotte is FINE by me), she was long overdue some Raw and PPV shine. I'm starting to lowkey fancy the fukk out of Charlotte mainly due to her heel mannerisms.... flat-assed gal has GOT IT.
Asylum match was trash, but Jericho went hard onto those tacks. Saluté.
Rusev's Accolade to win on the injured back looked savage. Good monster booking.
Main event was better than expected, but Roman still needs a lot more moves. Seth's appearance was kind of predictable... and they're going to have trouble if they're booking him as a traditional heel against Roman.

AJ kicked out of just as much. People should be complaining about how meaningless big bumps and finishers are in WWE right, not how strong Roman looked (Hey, Phil).

Roman kicked out of: Two Styles Clashes (one on a chair), at least one Phenomenal Forearm, The Club's finish, 5 chair shots, I think a springboard 450 but I'm not positive on that.
On the same show, Cesaro kicked out of the SCF even though there were 2 other guys to break the pin and it took the Helluva kick and papa powerbomb to beat him. Charlotte and Nattie both got out of their respective finishers. Ziggler kicked out of what seemed to be Corbin's new finish, Xavier kicked out of Vaudvillains' double team finisher.
Dudes need to step up and say "I'm not going to use my finisher if I'm not winning the match". Protect your shyt, brehs.
