Haney Says He Watched Mayweather-Ndou Prior To Big KO Win

Lightweight contender Devin Haney (22-0) had one of the best performances of his young career on Saturday night in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He ended the fight with a one punch, highlight reel knockout of Antonio Moran (24-4) in the 7th round of their DAZN streamed main event.
As one would imagine, Haney was very satisfied with his performance.
"I used my jab, had a complete performance and knocked him out. It gets no better than that," he told a group of reporters after the fight.
The 20-year-old Las Vegas resident has been trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr. on and off over the years and has also picked up some pointers from Floyd Jr. He revealed that he watched one of the younger Mayweather's knockout victories prior to the fight.
"Before the fight I watched Pretty Boy Floyd versus Phillip Ndou. I knew I had a taller opponent and I guess that is what you saw," he explained.
As for the key to his victory, Haney said that his speed is one of his greatest assets.
He won't always be the taller fighter as he gets older and moves up in weight but is very confident that his advantage in speed and his other skills will always be enough to come away with the victory.
"I know that I am much faster than 90% of my opponents, maybe 98%. I knew my speed was a big factor so I just used my jab and used speed," Haney stated.
It looked so telegraphed though I'm surprised it landed flush like that. What a KO
Forgot Haney even had this in his locker
He’s never been the same since he hurt his shoulderWhat a KO

it was a great overall performance. Thing is, I still don't know where that power came from. Even before the surgery Haney couldn't really punch conclusively, most of his knockouts came from overwhelming inferior opponents. Even against bottom tier opponents, Haney rarely really wobbled guys or knocked them down
. Haneys not Tito, but he's not Malignaggi either. He's more like a Tim Bradley power wise.Haney had some pop..before the shoulder surgery his KO rate was over 60 percent...his last KO to date was because he broke the guys orbital..most ppl underrated the role the shoulders have in delivering power...my nikka Jeff Lacy couldn't get a nikka outta there to save his life after he tore his shoulder upI actually got up and applauded when Haney landed that shotit was a great overall performance. This is one of those lightning in a bottle moments. Haneys not Tito, but he's not Malignaggi either. He's more like a Tim Bradley power wise.
