One of the last great pay per view events they made. This was supposed to be the next watershed moment in the company, where it could be used as a book mark of everything changing. Everything that night unfolded as it should have, or at least did so in a manner that nobody should have complained. Then they blew it all a month later . The crowd from the entrances to the final bell that night was incredible. Still mad about this. Punk and Bryan were gonna keep us fed for the next 5-8 years.

It was one of the few times this decade where they intersected with pop culture effortlessly. Occupy Wall Street (essentially a struggle between money grubbing baby boomers (Vince) and the younger generation who they see as entitled and undeserving (Punk)) kicked off not too long after.

If Cokeboy had served the story, rather than being halfway invested the aftermath could have been way better.

Let's not get crazy, breh. It wasn't even the best non-WM PPV that year. Summerslam had the superior Cena/Punk and Orton/Christian matches, plus Bryan/Wade doing their best Bryan/Nigel match. There are probably 10 Summerslams alone better than MITB 2011.

It was lit. Everything went right that night, and the stars aligned, and we were on our way to the most interesting thing to happen since the Nexus. Then, of course, they derailed their own train before it could even take off....kind of like the Nexus. That's the thing with WWE storylines is that when something happens that legitimately gets people talking, they go and throw it into a brick wall. It's a great match, but knowing what happened next - Punk coming back a few weeks later, HHH and Nash getting involved, etc. etc. - makes it lose its' luster a bit in my opinion.

EDIT - TNA did a better "Champions leaves the company with the belt" storyline than WWE. Double burn.

The match and its build are still as glorious. The problem is they have to destroy everything that organically gets over . Cokeboy can't have the people thinking that wrestlers can get themselves over as opposed to being wholly dependent on him.

i have no memory of any of it lol swear i watch wrestling and forget 90% of it after it hapens. Punk damn near never existed at this point. i dont remember even one of his matches. just a shyt load of flabby elbow drops
