I have always lauded 50’s business acumen over his actual rapping skills, I think he’s way way WAY more influential and important to the culture as an entrepreneur and philanthropist than as an artist.
That being said, if I was in that camp my concerns would be that, first:
The superstar recording artist transitions to independent status after a successful twelve years at Shady/Aftermath/Interscope, during which time he sold more than 30 million albums.
....does 50 or anybody in his camp even have the DRAWING POWER to think that they will become richer off this deal? Like, I don’t care who distributes your shyt, if nobody’s BUYING IT, then fukk your distribution deal. People really AREN'T checking for his music like that. Sure, you got the diehards like cats on this board, but that's a minority. Fif ain't moving no units, so a deal like this has to be looked at in the proper context. Secondly:
Get Rich or Die Tryin', The Massacre, Curtis and Before I Self Destruct, will continue to be marketed and released by Shady/Aftermath/Interscope.
….so basically Jimmy gets to rape him into perpetuity.

I mean damn, if he does make new music and it's profitable under this new deal, that's cool, but he'll NEVER sell 30 million records under THIS deal like he did under the Interscope deal. So who CARES about him owning the masters to his NEW music when ain't nobody buyin' the shyt?
Aside from those two things, be happy for ANY Black person making moves like this.
