Watching now. Already bought tickets for the 20th anniversary GRODT Tour. Gonna be some legendary shyt. 2003. I was 13 when that album dropped, about to start high school. it essentially shaped my rap taste.

Same. Definitely shaped my music taste.
I remember in 7th grade we use to print out the lyrics to tracks on beg for mercy. Its gunit forever over here.

Can we all agree that Dre has the worst A&R ear for music? He can make a song sonically sound great, but his record of approving songs is 👎🏾👎🏾
He's a top tier mixer, and a good studio coach but yeah, too insecure and stuck in his ways.

And really at the end of the day his heart truly lies with that WCWC electro shyt from back in the days, even when you look at the songs from the iteration of Detox that was closest to being released the songs are very pop/club/electroish.

The eras of Dre that people seem to love the most are really other beatmakers signature sounds that Dre helped finalize and polish.

In his defense it could have been not the finished product when he heard it

And maybe not having 21 questions stop 50 from going that route. So Dre probably was right with that one.

Nah. Dre's the most musically insecure & unconfident person EVER. That results in Detox never coming out and Compton flopping.

Any project headed by him the last 30 years since Doggystyle has either not came out or got held back. Most of the dope stuff we've heard from him would've never came out if it was up to him.

I’m just talking this album

21 questions blowing up made 50 put like 4 of them shyts on his next album. Them type of songs is why his run was short. Dre was right in that regard imo

Say what you want, but those are the songs that helped make him a complete superstar and be able to still be relevant today.

I was at a rooftop club two weeks ago, the DJ played "Just A Little Bit" and I actually got that that's the perfect demographic for it🤷🏾‍♂️. I wouldn't play it in my personal time but hey.

You gotta make songs for the ladies too and not just "the streets."

One of Dre's Achilles heels has always been R&B/songs for the women. Even the Michel'le album was coproduced by Andre "L.A. Dre." Bolton.

I'm still mad Dre said in 1992 that he didn't consider 2 Live Crew to be hip-hop😂.

You right but those same songs is why he only had a 3 album run and not a 6 album run. The dudes that blew him up left. And fickle fans jump to the next thing. 50 should made a course correction with Curtis but he doubled down on more of what his core didn’t want.

No way I’ll believe after 2003 50 would fall off completely 3 albums later.

4 solo albums is crazy in 20 years

So Buck was right, Lloyd Banks did technically write the hook for In Da Club :sas2:

This post is probably the most confident post of fiction I've read on here.

1) Compton went gold in 2015 without a single or video. It was also critically acclaimed and announved like two weeks before actually dropping. How did it flop?

2) 2001 dropped within the last 30 years and that's a classic. Eminem's MMLP. He had like 5 tracks on Jay's Kingdom Come, multiple songs on GRODT. I could go on.
