50 Cent is on the level of 2pac and Biggie and easily one of the best ever

50 Cent is the ever-shifting goal post for mediocrity. Whenever people talk about him, they constantly introduce caveats into the argument "well he's not lyrical but..." and "hey he's not the best, but he's real" or "well 50 got so much money".

50 Cent is and was all marketing. Imagine dude without the 9 shots. Or the Dre/Em co-sign. Without the bulletproof vest or the money.

Just imagine sight unseen, listening to 50's best song next to Pac and Big's best songs. Fukk it, DMX, Jay, or Em's best songs. You think it'd compare? Of course not.

While those 50 songs posted above are good (with the exception of Baltimore Love Thing which I'm not a big fan of) - none of those songs are as deep/personal as the Big/Pac songs posted.

There was a thread on thecoli a month back or so about Nas predicting 50's fall off or whatever (although I don't agree that 50 has fell off)
Nas said - "Be yourself, see if people like you. We don't know who the real 50 is yet because he won't open up to us in his music. That comes with growth"
I think that sums it up pretty well. 50 just doesn't make any kind of deep/personal/introspective music like a lot of the other greats can and have.

I'm a 50 fan but i'm also a realest. musically he is no where near pac. Big I can't really speak on cause I've never really been a fan of his. I've heard loads of people compare 50 to PAC even legends who knew pac, I just see a video the other day of dj quick saying it. But when they say it they ain't talking music. Even krs one has said a few years ago 50 is already a legend. Ye he got classics and changed the mixtape game and sold millions of records and all that but what makes him stand out from other artists is him and his life and the impact he had on music. There has never and probably will never be another person like him in music.
It's just a shame the kind of artist he is and music he makes isn't popular in the mainstream anymore. Times change and so do peoples tastes.

And to be a great artist you don't have to have deep meaningful powerful songs.

50 isn't lyrical and never has been.

It's like people have such high standards for 50 for some strange reason.
And saying we don't know who 50 is yet is the stupidest thing. His life is a open book and has been from the beginning interscope marketed him like eminem with his life.
I've been a nas fan longer than 50 and know hardly anything about the real nas.

not on pacs level.

but i would honestly take 50's whole catalog over bigs, he's an underrated legend but nowhere near GOAT discussions

you can compare him to biggie i guess even tho biggie was more of a lyrical cat than 50, but he is no 2pac, no comparison. 2pac was militant, 50 Cent doesn't really stand for anything except gangsta shyt and money, lol

Not even close to me, Pac and Big in my top 10 and I'm not sure if 50 cracks my top 100.

i think @Brooklynzson needs to take away your posting privileges for awhile. Cmonson!!! do you really think 50 "Beaver Teeth Cent: is on 2pac Level? Really Breh? Really? mannnnnnnnnn you must be smoking that new kind of crack. Nowhere in 50 catalog is he being meticulous in his delivery and subject matter....couple of people throw the "50 Cent is a gangsta" assertion around but what songs by shytty Cent is he going deep :beli: put Heartz of Men on a pedestal with any song by 50 and it overshadows him by lightyears.

Pac had that way of making you think "if we dont teach the babies/we'd have a nation of babies raising babies".
