When you really really think about it...50 Cent was the new version of LL Cool J. Dominant in his era. Songs for the ladies and the streets. Always showing off the bodybuild. Not the most lyrical but still able to make powerful songs. Reputation for taking shots at other rappers on wax.

Everything else you said was on serious point though and LL did all of that without a crew which is rare a true solo act. He set a lot of trends with his style too from Kangol to the Fubu joints and one pant leg up and etc. He has an ego but you are meant to behind the pen/pad/microphone.
