How do we know he wasn’t there? I remember him being in the G-Unit videos and ads in the early days of the Unit. If you listened/read 50’s book, he talks about the countless times he’s tried to be there for Marquise. Even the text messages that Marquise leaked shows 50 trying to see him and the nicca was playing games. Outside of the other disappointments, I’m sure 50 is within his right to feel the way he does.

I used to understand his POV. 50 was probably not the best father, was probably barely around, and probably thought money would solve not being there.

Also, kids want their parents to be together so he probably didn’t understand his dad being around multiple other women.

With that said, he lost me once he got older and continued to act like a cornball. Immediately taking his mother’s side. Taking photos with Supreme’s son. But of course Fif was corny too saying he didn’t care if he died.

My opinion is once Marquise got of age (16 or so), he should’ve been aware enough to know his parents problems had nothing to do with him, should’ve stayed out of it and he should’ve been trying to seek out a relationship if Fif offered. That way he could’ve gotten help going to college and help becoming a successful young man. It makes no sense to be struggling when your dad is mega rich. You supposed to be going to Yale or Harvard then Wall Street like the white kids.

It's not that simple. Jay-Z and beanie sigel were in their 30s making songs about their fathers not being in their lives. Jay didn't get understanding until his dad was dying. From his own admission of claiming the mom had so much power over his thoughts. If he was present that wouldn’t be the case.

The way he talks about being “there” for him is always about money.

Even the story about the sneakers, he wants to blame everyone else but he didn’t do what he needed to do direct his son the right way.

He says he called him on the phone and shipped him a bunch of shoes, then he didn’t hear from him for a couple weeks. That’s his own damn fault. The dude was a kid. WTF he supposed to do with hundreds of pairs of shoes

I got teenage kids. They need guidance can’t just send them money and expect them to make the correct decisions.

He should have flown himself there. Showed his son how to open the store. Helped him make a webpage etc. That would have been “being present” and would have actually taught Marquise something.
