Shoot my issue is that none of the people bringing it up actually wanna discuss the case.

If we gonna talk about it lets talk about. Weakest rape case in the history of rape cases.

Truth.

They run on that "I believe women" stance, and take his make it go away apology, and make it seem ironclad that a rape happened.

If it was "I'll wait for evidence" it would play out in the court of public in the same manner it played out in the actual court of law.

Charges dropped, case dismissed.

The ONLY reason to discuss this case after his death is to be salacious. You don’t HAVE to make this part of his life story in order to take him down a notch from “Hero to human”.

That’s a deliberate choice, that is used inconsistently and strategically.

Take race out of it, it’s a weird obsession we have with celebrities.

For example if your 86 year old uncle James dies and the newspaper features his obituary, they will only mention the positive occurrences of his life. That’s how the dead are honored.

They’re not gotta put a paragraph stating “ Uncle James was a plumber for 45 years, and survived by his wife and grandchildren. He also was arrested for a DUI and Hit and Run back in the summer of ‘67”

Or

“Aunt Helen died of cancer at age 58. She cheated on her husband at age 33 and filed bankruptcy at age 36”

Even though these may all be facts and “part of the whole story” people don’t bring it up during death while the family is grieving because it would be viewed as tacky and classless.

It’s weird how with certain celebrities. The media feels like it has no choice. We only examine the “totality of ones life” when there is an agenda to push. It’s usually financial.

Talk that shyt. :salute:

I have zero issue discussing the rape case. It's a part of his story, his life, etc. It happened, there was a case, there was evidence, you can find it online readily, etc. If the goal is to remember humans - not gods or idols - then we should examine the totality of their life. We should talk about the trial...and the clear shift in Kobe's life after the trial. The evolution Kobe took, going from a player who at one point was clowned and despised by some...to a player nearly universally beloved. A player who went out his way to mentor girls and women. That's an interesting conversation to have...and one that we can't have without acknowledging the case and what came afterward. And we also can't have it in this climate where you are either all good or all bad. Where one mis-step renders you cancelled for life.

My problem with Gayle (and Oprah) is that they selectively choose who to target with their faux investigative journalism. Gayle is on record dapping Charlie Rose, Oprah is on record dapping Weinstein. Their behavior strikes me as a perfect example of white feminism. The type of feminism that revels in surface level tokenism and identity politics, which are used to gain a seat at the very same table that was designed/powered by systematic sexism. The women who were molested and raped by powerful white men are merely sacrifices to be ignored/overlooked as Gayle, Oprah, and others climb as far as they can in order to be as close as they can to power. Denigrating Kobe doesn't endanger their position at the table. Denigrated MJ doesn't either. Denigrating Weinstein though? Charlie Rose? Matt Lauer? They'll never do it. Because the men at that table are guilty of all the same crimes that Weinstein/Rose/Lauer/etc committed. They just haven't been exposed yet...but they sure as hell aren't going to sit back and let women who might expose them get into positions of power or influence.

Man get the fukk out of here. If your mom died is appropriate that all her history be examined while you're grieving? Especially if the history is bullshyt?

Is it justice or is it revenge?

Damn that’s deep.

50 spoke facts it's sickening how they try to demonize black men even after they've been acquitted like Kobe Bryant and Nate Parker. :scust:

Good on Lisa Leslie for not falling for Gayle's weak-ass bait. :salute:

We're talking about a public figure here, not some random person. But if you want me to address that sure. I have family members with very complicated histories, who I love. My dad for instance, who on some level is a piece of shyt for cheating on my mom and mentally abusing her...yet on another level is took care of his family, made sure all his kids were successful, is well respected in the community, and has taken many principled stands throughout his life. When he dies I'm going to think about all of that, not just the good things. That's still my dad.

Again if we're remembering a man, not a god, then why shouldn't we examine what we know about their public life? Kobe becomes more impressive as a man when you look at him fully. Hell think about the way he must have repaired his marriage, to the point they seemed to be madly in love (and still having children) 20 years into the relationship. We don't have some magic insight into their personal lives yet it certainly seems like Kobe righted what was wrong, atoned for his mistake, and kept his family strong. Again...another highlight of him as a human being who is worth respecting.

Ok so they say Kobe raped her but didnt she have 3 different semen specimens in her when they did the rape kit?

She also admitted to having sex with another man after Kobe. A Colorado newspaper also interviewed her high school classmates who said she bragged about having sex with Kobe.

The whole rape allegation was a sham. The bytch was just after money. That's why she dropped the criminal charges after they settled in civil court.
