Jigga went from dissing the Grammys to having 1 about every year since and he and wife even got new categories added just for them to win

Jigga 24 Grammy
Michael Jackson 13
I mean even John Legend has 12 while Usher has just 8

Jigga has one less than Stevie Wonder
:stopitslime:

He and Beyonce have ruined the Award show

Fallen and GRODT both sold 10mil in the US and Fallen outsold it globally since release though. But I feel like that's a separate argument because the Best New Artist award is a general award voted on by everyone. I'd expect a rock/pop group to beat out rappers since they have a higher pool of voters to benefit from, despite the Jimmy Iovine/Dre/Interscope connection. I'm talking about rap categories though. Most of Jay's Grammys come from BP3 and WTT, two of the most successful rap albums of the last 12 years. 2009-2012 when Jay was dominating another era commercially, in ways we had never seen before from a 90s artist that far into his career. Back when him and Kanye were the only rappers doing massive tours.

50 is always gonna poke at Jay, and the Super Bowl shyt proved that Jay still feels some type of way about him. So to me this is just 50 talking shyt because it doesn't make sense otherwise. He's gotta find an excuse for why Jay managed to dominate in multiple eras and have resurgences whereas he only had that one hot run. In the past he blamed payola, then Live Nation, now Beyonce. Meh.
That Fallen album sold 141k first week. GRODT sold over 800k two weeks straight. Don't make excuses for that robbery.

50 might be a super hater, but when he talks industry he doesnt miss.

Numbers don’t lie. Look up his Grammy awards and the timeline. Also, 80% are features. nikka has like 6/24 as the actual artist. Matter fact, the two of them have the EXACT same number of all time nominations. How Sway?

Pull up Grammy wins and nominations for most Hip Hop artists. I guarantee many of them will be features and/or had a feature on the song.

Look, I'm one of the biggest jigga stans there is but even I can admit that this dude was INCREDIBLY lucky to be in close proximity to two of the biggest pop stars we've ever seen. The last 12 years or so he has Kanye and Beyonce to thank for maintaining his relevancy, because nobody gives a fukk about magna carter and he basically rode that legendary Lemonade wave with 4:44. Besides attaching himself to those two the demand for him by himself just isn't there like that when you really think about it. Nobody is clamoring for another Jay-Z album.

I mean, I'd welcome another one but the public as a whole? I'm honestly not sure.

This is false though. MCHG is bigger than anything Ye made since WTT though. Jay Z went triple platinum with that album and it has multiple songs that were certified platinum and multi platinum. Meanwhile, "the album about Beyonce" is nowhere near successful. If we're being honest here, MCHG was the last time Jay Z was commercially relevant in the mainstream.

So your point is a man who benefited from having TWO icons back him his entire career, was right?

Only in anything associated with black culture is this a bad thing. :heh:

The topic was about Jigga, not 50 :wtf: Still correct either way

Would ya'll please research before ya'll keep reiterating what's been known since the day it dropped. The album actually soundscanned 1,000,000 copies before 2013 even ended meaning it sold 1,000,000 physical copies. Since its release, it did another million. It is certified 3X platinum and only 1 million of the certified units is from the Samsung deal.

Biggest first week sales of 2013:

^^^ MCHG is number 3 with 527K.
