I'm black... I can assure you, for EVERYONE, your "laziness" is exactly why you are where you are. And I hate to call it lazy. It's your drive. Follow me

Is the average person looking for a better job? NO

This includes unemployed, those with shytty jobs, amazing jobs, low paying, high paying, unstable, stable, etc. Are you still striving to move up? Get more? Learn more skills? Testing for them, whether school or cert? Keeping your resume current. Sending it out. Looking for positions in your own company? Sitting down with your boss and speaking out your future. Smoozing. All that shyt? Some of it? None of it?

That's why people are stuck at Walmart, McDonald's, Kohl's for years. You can be in a job, making 45k a year, and be stuck in that role for 15 years if you let it happen. You can also be bouncing job to job, up up up, climbing the ladder. Yea it's fukking hard, but how bad do you want it?

I'm black, been at my job 6 years, get my yearly increase, make over the median, ask about management and serious raises......... And ain't sent out my resume the whole time. That's on ME. I'm comfortable, got the schedule I want, like my coworkers.. I could be hustling with my skills, studying at work, getting certs, moving to a prime location, and banking 6 figures by the summer.

Yes I will have a harder time doing that than a white person. But ain't no way in hell, I could blame that situation, or the situations I been when I was dead broke, on the fact I'm black and couldn't get a job. When I wanted a job, I had one. When I strived to get a better one, I got it. When I was lazy, I was broke. When I didn't want to work, I hustled. But none of that could be blamed on me being black like I had no other way. There's always a way to get up off your ass, hustle, and get bread

Boot Strap Bob.....This was not deep, profound or intelligent. It was a self serving attempt for attention and praise. It's the same surface examining bullshyt that keeps us in these low places. It's great to have a drive, but if you don't recognize why the majority of our peoples "drive" is systemically attacked at birth, than you just tap dancin' like everyone else.

Bigger question is, if you acknowledge that its a problem what are you going to do about it besides complaining on thecoli.com? Any plans of action mr Malcolm X?

People underestimate the power of systemic oppression. If your grandparents were never given a fair shot in life because of government sponsored discrimination, your parents will have an extremely hard time getting up to the middle class or staying there, as a result, most black people in their 20s and 30s just do not have the know how to play the game...this is why we are bragging about black women being the most educated despite the fact that most of that education yields little result. more importantly, we do not have the network to get those great jobs. Many of my friends from college had parents that could make phone calls with them and get great jobs in finance, virtually all my friends in medical school had well off parents. There is no such thing has the american dream or that bootstrap bullshyt. Hardwork helps but luck and being connected matters a lot more.

back to the topic though....when you make more than $33k a month but still ain't satisfied :steviej:

mo money, mo problems

without reparations this shyt can't be fixed. All public schools in areas that have a significant black population should be well funded and put on par with middle-class white neighborhoods. Blacks, especially those that are descendants of slaves or with grandparents, great grandparents that lived through the Jim Crow era should get free education. More aggressive punishment against companies and banks that discriminate against blacks....etc. We need our own GI bill

Essentially the government has to make an effort on several different fronts and we all know America aint going to stand for that.

nikka what are you talking about? I didn’t write that for none of those reasons. I sat right there and said I’m one of the people I’m talking about. Who “wants” more but ain’t out here actively trying to do so. Just comfortable in my job.

if you ain’t putting in 150% into getting that next big job. Then shut the fukk up about the other shyt.

if you went to school, applying, trying, willing to move, willing to retrain, looking to move up and you getting excluded cause you black, that’s one thing. Most of US ain’t doing all that shyt, to skip to why it ain’t happening. Are you even in the interview process before you start saying why you ain’t getting it?

like I said before, nobody said this shut was easy. But plenty of us are black and getting money out here. And it didn’t happen by luck

I think it can be fixed but its going to take a lot of sacrifice and work from us. We will need to pool resources and start building closed communities and investing in those communities. Things wouldn't change in our lives but we could build a foundation for our grandchildren to prosper from our work.

One of my clients yesterday was a white woman whose 30 and is pulling 292K this year

:francis:

I'd bet $292k that her parents made similar or better money.

With whites, it's rare that they drastically exceed their parents unless their parents were already well off. Like Becky makes $300k, but she came from a household where moms and pops each pulled 6 figs. They get opportunities we just don't even know exist. That's the big difference people miss. Hard work will take you a long way but skin privilege is what allows them to make stupid money. We make $100-$150k by grinding but they'll make $400k because a friend introduced them to some VP and they got "guided" and "developed" for a position that we would never get...no matter how hard we worked.

Disagree, either you are born with hustle/drive or you aren't. The problem is simply the middle class jobs that an average American citizen with no hustle or drive could take to live comfortably are gone.

Now it is sink or swim time and people want to coast or skate by....

We can't save them all....

You are right. Her mom and dad made a deal with her the next day to pay her 100K to wipe off her debt
