This really is too much work IMO.

Why not just save $30 a check or set a percentage for direct deposit to put into a separate savings account?

I added a second checking account at work so they can automatically add $50 a pay period to this account.

I didn't either, so I went with www.betterment.com

Completely automated. They choose the investments for you, re-balance, re-invest dividends, etc.... Fees aren't super-low but it's a great service, and it beat the hell out of my savings acct (0.9%).

As you can see, I'm pretty happy with the returns.

:childplease:

let's start with a deposit amount of $50

ain't nobody has 9 lives to save at the rate of $1,378 per year :childplease:

I hope no one is using this for their life savings.:scusthov:

To me, this is a perfect "save for the end of the year trip" plan. $1378 can get you a nice lil' all inclusive vacation someplace warm :smugbiden:

damn A1 thread , I was literally heading out in like a hour to start a savings account.. im going to disneyland around memorial weekend, never took a real vacation in my life.. 25 years old been working since 15 ( :to: if yall get to enjoy not working as a kid do it please) but im horrible at saving outside of my 401k.. so I plan on saving $250 every pay check ( I get 3 paychecks a month) till may, that should pay for everything and still have a lot left over to continue saving after that as well.

I needa get my shyt together and buy a house this year while the market still a buyers market.. only way to do that is stop buying bottles in the club and just automatically sending that money away to a savings account so i never see it

Just starting my career soon so I'll be doing something similar. Even tho I'm still living with my parents, my goal is to have 1 year of rent, cable and utilities saved up, in addition to tryna put $X per check into 401K, as well as paying off my $30K student loan in sooner than 10 years. Only 22 yrs old, so I'ma start getting my finances straight early

I'ma be honest, I'm not really familiar with the whole 401k system, but it's something that's on the front of my mind. I'ma be working at Wells Fargo, where I've already interned, and I remember them talking about how the company has a pretty good matching contribution :win: so I'ma let them help me save up for when I'm :flabbynsick: :pachaha:

I'll read up on IRA's too. I chose to not pay attention in HS and college during those lessons :manny:
