Im not certain they are willing to spend the money it would take to get Cody to do a contract right now. But id love to see Cody get a run at Jay Lethal. Its actually the ideal situation for them to get the upper hand on the Bullet Club

Problem with taking the belt off of Jay Lethal right now id therr is no one on the rise that's hot(except Dalton) so if they do it they'd just be doing it just to do it

This would be my exact problem. They are in for a major cooldown period after Lethal drops it and i dont thibk this current incarnation of the bullet club is enough to salvage it. Maybe theyll throw a Joe/Aries like curve ball and a midcarder will win it randomly

I get that, but this seems like the first time that an ROH Title reign is going long solely to go long. At least with Joe, Nigel, Bryan's long reigns, it always felt like they were constantly building to something/building new challengers, which made sure that the title picture never got stale. ROH has put themselves in an impossible position with Lethal: a reign that run its course with no one to take it from him. At that point, I'd much rather a midcarder take it from him, since that has the potential to provide an interesting storyline (better than the champ on one night, but how good is he really?). As it is right now, we're just waiting for the reign to end.

Christian was a guy that everybody knew should've already been a main event champion in the WWE.

cody Rhodes is just a guy that's coming from wrestling on wwe main event(the tv show).

He is though, Cody is maaaaaad creative when it comes to character development and progression.

Not saying give him the belt right away, Christian took a few months to get it. But it would make whoever is up next a bigger star by beating Cody than Lethal.

Cody isn't in the same league as Lethal, O'Riley, Cole right now. He's a good promo and personality but to be atop ROH you gotta be able to put on great matches. Last big match I seen Cody in with Sami Zayn was trash.
