Here we go, I have an interview tomorrow at 10am for another Qlik Developer role (they called me! )

I feel I've been failing on highlighting some of the admin work I've done, so I'm going to write out more experience in that area to have on deck. Write out some sample scripts just in case. I'll run this Udemy course in the background while I'm doing that.

Reaching the end of the second week in this new team and I'm ready to find something new . Only so many times I can ask for work or offer to help someone else and get ignored. So I decided with apl the downtime they're generously (read FOOLISHLY) giving me, I'll be getting back on the grind . You gotta fukk up big time for me to want to stay practicing programming problems again.

Good conversations yesterday, but got the rejection later that night. Combo of not enough app development experience and not having a current clearance to boot. No one is trying to sponsor someone that may not be able to hit the ground running, so I get it. I'm also not trying to lie and say I did tons of development work when I haven't. Happy they turned it around so fast! Some people will leave you hanging for weeks.

Going to modify my strategy a bit. Exclude government contracts/agencies and probably titles with "developer" in them. There were some analyst & data science roles I saw available yesterday, so I will try that path.

The woman from the non-profit finally got me back, but sent me the link to the google survey instead of the results of those already surveyed, which I need to begin analysis. LOL at least she got back to me, but I clearly need to outline what she needs to do.

So I had a boss with the Director of my department. It seems like he's taking a vested interest in my success and wants to help my career path within the company. Maybe because I'm one of the few Black engineers in my role as well as him being a rarity himself in a Black man in senior leadership. He wants to have monthly 1:1s with me to help me also.

So my next roles would either be a SME or Dedicated Customer Engineer. I want to leverage my soft skills as well as my hard skills.

One of my 2-3 year goals is to reach 200k yearly compensation so I'm definitely down. I need to help train my other colleagues but also need to take time to improve my own skillset as well.

Their HQ is Northern VA, so pretty much DC/DMV. They do have offices in Richmond, VA though...

They have some tough interviews. I messed up twice with them

Yea, the company is a bit intense. Even at HQ. I had two former colleagues that worked there. One in Richmond and one in their NoVA HQ.

The one at the NoVA office said come annual evaluation time, the bottom performers are asked to leave or something of that nature.

Great place to work from a skills and career building perspective, but it is definitely intense.

These fraudsters have been stepping it up since the pandemic.

Just had a call from a weird number with an automated voice telling me (without saying my name of course) that my name has come up in serious tax fraud and that if I don't press 1 and speak to somebody I'm gonna be immediately arrested and charged.shyt was so horrendously fake I just busted out laughing.

I probably would have played along any other time but I got some studying to do.
