You just took the interview to take it?
Pretty much yeah, I applied to see how my resume is and you never know when you're gonna get shafted by an employer - happened to me in the past.

In the future I would like to get into a GIS or IT role, we use ArcGIS in my current role and it looks like there's gonna be a lot of growth and job security with those departments in the future. You can get automated drones to draw the maps but you still seen humans to validate it.

I'm starting to see a lot more gate keeping within certain fields. The GIS guys at my job get to do all sorts of cool shyt; create 3D models, fly drones and I'm hearing rumours of AR technology.

I don't blame them, my ass went to school for automation (Electrical Engineering Technology) when I should've went for civil and focused on GIS.

My promotion is confirmed. Should be coming in mid June. Salary bump is on the lower side (10%). Regular bumps are 12-15% but apparently the retention pay bump (20%) I got in 2022 put me as one of the highest earners in my broader org.

I was “pitched” allegedly into the promotion pipeline with HR finally for September but we will see. I can run the stats on all our teams and still besting by far half of my old team (now down to 4, a director, two VPs and a Sr VP from 8 when I started in 22). The new VP started in November and has a total of $157k, $90k of which I gave to them. I trust my current boss far more than the others but only to a certain point.

It’s not a competition and our Val’s are more than the revenue but it’s annoying because it’s all about convincing leadership you’re doing all this great work- but they don’t take accountability for their bad decisions. My former boss who they fired was all about that just talking and at times pulling off stuff like an 800k month, but he took a lot of shortcuts (like selling research to a FAANG in a country where their platform is illegal) and then just ghosting the actual projects or they become massive shyt shows til they let him go.

With that said, my “coworkers” like me a lot and while it makes my job a lot easier I def don’t get credit for it. Right now selling a pretty big (maybe up to 270k) project with a new client-and the main hurdle with the people I staffed- is they absolutely don’t want to work with our former sector lead (also my former boss.) who’s now head of ~d*e*i (the real name is too traceable). She’s very disrespectful of people’s time, efforts and dismisses their work to overstep.

Basically always selling externally and internally, building strong relationships on both, they 100% can and do turn down projects bc of who’s on it but I usually get yeses. And managing peoples personalities and fukkups across projects be like I guess that’s not showing strong leadership? :mad:

Oan the activity across the accounts is WILD-every acct I’ve touched since I started grew significantly then dropped off a cliff once I left it. The numbers for Ms, H. P, even rainforest I did 500 to date the vp has to book another ~750 are looking crazy. F is actually doing well and should hit its goal.

Feels like we’re in an era with zero leadership. Our government is self explanatory but between my personal experience at work, conversations with friends or shyt online just feels like leadership everywhere is reactionary. No one has a long term vision.

Curious on everyone’s thoughts
Shareholding drives $ immediately over value and relevant customer products. I’m testing a few pilots now and it’s the same story- de-coupling actual innovation with incremental “how can we get more money”-not even fixing known issues. :Yeshrug: for many of my tech clients, I will say my CPG ones are tentatively more positive and easier to work with. The FS team is holding tight to theirs so it may take some time to crack into those accounts.

Edit since moving teams I have a million times better actual work life balance and more confidence in the team too and projects I’m working on so I’m glad! Everyone says I look much happier lol (also broke it off with my son’s father in March so that’s a part of it)

Talked to one of the more seasoned folks on my team and he said I should push back on the salary bump.

I’m leaving about $7.5K on the table when comparing what’s being offered me and where I should be relative to level and team. The increase in bonus from 10% to 12% of my base is in line, though.

I’m going to ask my manager to push a bit more.

So I asked my boss to put time on our calendars for a mid-year review. I’m already one foot out so mapping out my strategy to move on. I’ll give her a chance but after that convo I’ll really know what’s up.
Scratch that I’m moving on regardless but going to still prod and nudge along til the right numbers come along elsewhere

So I started looking up the private high schools in NJ, I don’t really want him to go to boarding school tbh, but goddamn :damn:
