I was let go today. The pretense was I was let go due to "outages". I'm a network engineer. No one at the job is as skilled as I am with networking, but they brought on a contractor. Good fukking luck, fukking b*stards

EOY Review next week. Hearing bonuses should be paid out well above target. My multiplier should be like 3% above target so looking like 15-16% of base for the EOY bonus. Stock options at 12% of base...not a bad year at all.
Plowing most of that money into stocks, savings and clearing a bit of debt. Next year will be even better

Man you can really eat out here if all you get is some AI certs companies don't care if you know what you doing or not. 
I had to inherit 3 people with the AZ 900 and AZ 102 certs. All of their salaries are 150 to 200k. Not one of them has EVER done any work in AI. Neither one has an Azure experience.
And it's not just them almost everyone I interview about AI they say they did it "in theory" or "in practice"
Let me ground out both these certs this month and next month and tell my company the price of the brick going up

Wont even lie this promotion doesn't even seem worth it anymore.
Now I have to do log sheets, supervisor's eyes are always on me at all times and I have waaaaaay more responsibility for so little pay - I'm basically making what I was making as an entry level technician.
The good thing is that my resume's looking nice because my position title doesn't sound made up like my last one (traffic operations technologist vs stakeholder data administrator clerk lol) and the experience is dope.
But My girl who makes almost 15k less than me makes around the same as me after taxes.

A new hire is starting on Black Friday. I’ll have to walk them through their IT onboarding. Why schedule someone to start a corporate job on a Friday at all?
Tired of getting taxed for tokens. Switching to open source local AI development environment with Ollama CLI to manage and run open source language models like Llama 3 7B & Mistral 7B, using Tabby as my AI coding assistant accessing the models through Ollama’s API for code completion and chat, and using Code Context for semantic code search and navigation.Been on that vibe coding wave lately. We had lots of major leadership changes since I started and one of the things they have to do is submit a name or two (per dept) to be let go. So there it is I was the last one or most recent let go of the ‘22 class- it was inevitable considering they wouldn’t promote me. In the job market now so we will see. Wish me luck before I have to do something strange to somebody uncle for Xmas giftsDidn't you already get a new CEO?

I wanted to wait until I had a solution to complain but earlier this summer I had my third child and then took paternity leave. Immediately after returning I got laid off due to a mix of economy, company missing Q3 and politics. Really annyoing because I'd been there a while and they treated me like trash in the end. Nasty behavior after they sent me company branded new baby gear.
Anyway, I took my severance, got thrown into this job market and managed to land a nice new remote tech job. I didn't submit too many apps and landed 5 interviews:
1 I feel I lost because recruiter took 2.5 weeks to do the initial screen.
1 I went 6 rounds of interviews and ran into an a$$hole at the end.
2 I passed coding tests / take home case study but lost in final round.
Got the last one after 7 interview rounds.
Did not talk to a single black person the entire time
but happy to be employed heading into 26.
