Week 1 down waiting to hear back for next steps

The past few months have felt surreal with losing my job and moving out of Texas. I got my son in school here in GA but who knows where we end up; some are full time direct hires and some are contracts that I’m up for.

I’m gunning for a Director promotion by end of year.

We got people in my broader team making VP by 33/34…I’m 30.

VP comp is at least $300K base and close to $500K all in with bonus and stock

I started my new contract Monday, an insights manager role for a media house. Fingers crossed I do a great job and convert to full-time . Thankful I wasn’t oow for long time, a lot on social media are bemoaning how difficult it is to get even interviews.

I be so confused when I see people say they can't even get interviews. I've missed out on hella jobs, but an interview was hardly ever a problem. I haven't had to since January of last year, though. Maybe things took an incredible turn for the worse.

I just got another offer but it’s a bit too late as I already accepted this contract, shoot! It’s making less but still a good salary, I wish they had been a little speedier with the process because I have to awkwardly ask them to keep me on file til October lol

I’m not sure as I got a good number of hits from applying during the holidays and now two offers. I don’t doubt people’s experience but I think some may need to level-set expectations if they’re looking for remote or something else where the market has dried up pretty much.

I been sitting on this for a minute and trying to forget about it, but the other day I was chatting with a coworker and telling him how I lost my previous role. (The owner of the substantive wanted their role back), which is whatever because I was temp and found a new job that paid a bit more.

The thing that vex me is that she told me for years that she wasn't returning, and I was good in her role for at least 5 years. She came back after 1, then told me the team she was working with was asking if I would be a good fit and basically told them no. Then told me I wouldn't want a work their because the project is going to fold and about of other negative gossip about them.

She basically blocked me from getting a +20k salary increase.

Looking back, its hitting me now and I'm pissed man, I wanna let this go but I can't.
