I've come to realize NYC is different from other areas. The Arab and Latin cats out there can say "nicca" freely and it's all good.

I grew up in Detroit...we have Mexican Town basically right near the heart of downtown. Mexicans don't use that word out here like that. And most Arabs in the city know better.

It's completely different in NYC.

I think that stems from the fact that a lot (not all) of the "Black" people in NYC (especially Brooklyn) are really West Indian and African immigrants (or one/two generations removed) who identify more so with the other immigrant groups in the city, than the Native Black folks in most of the rest of the country.
