Night 5

KENTA vs Archer: This was an ok big man vs small man match. Archer trash talking KENTA saying he's still Hideo Itami was funny, and surprisingly he was getting a lot of support from Korakuen's crowd. Maybe because he was battling unstoppable evil invader KENTA.

EVIL vs SANADA: Glad they avoided the common hesitation between tag team partners fighting each other and went to war immediately, using each other's moves as proof that THEY KNOW EACH OTHER SO WELL BECAUSE THEY ARE A TAG TEAM. Second best match of the night. SANADA is becoming one of my favorites.

Okada vs Fale: An unusual start as Fale ambushes Okada at backstage and attacks him during his own entrance. A 3-on-1 handicap since Chase Owens and Jado are there trying to help Fale and also trying to cover how terrible he is. Okada has always get the best match out of Fale, but this wasn't one of them.

Tana vs Sabre: Typical octopus shyt. Still think that against the right opponent Sabre can have a very good match (He had a great one against Jonathan Gresham at ROH Final Battle last year). At least Tana looks way better than the first half of this year. That G1 motivation. He kept more control over Sabre than Okada, trying to meet him at his level with his own submission maneuvers. Probably didn't enjoy it like other people, that depends if you like Sabre's style.

Ibushi vs Ospreay: Or the battle of the kamikazes. Or the match of the night. They tried to cut each other's wings at first, attacking their respective injuries. Ironically, the fact that both are hurt gave us a way better match than the usual display of fireworks they would've given us if healthy. There was flippy shyt at the end, of course, but a little more selling for their standards.

The Paradise Lock is fukking stupid, I hate it, I especially hate the rope assisted version. Sanada needs to drop that entirely from serious matches. Keep that shyt for comedy tags.

I don't mind the movie but it really doesn't makes much sense since he makes his opponent immobile, yet only takes advantage with a weak ass dropkick.

That and the continued insistence to have him choke out opponents in Skull End only to let go of the hold in order to hit a moonsault that he almost never hits are weak points in his offense.

Regardless I still think he's one of the best allround talents in NJPW, but seeing as he wasn't even booked to go over his LIJ tag team partner, it seems clear that he's going nowhere this G1 outside of possibly getting a win over Okada.

Surprised the crowd was rooting Ospreay over Ibushi, I understand the respect (or stupidity) of him doing this match with his reported neck issues, especially since it's Ibushi aka the neck destroyer. Which the latter did multiple times. It was absolutely brutal and it was absolutely awesome.
